2011 GVG Championship Series

General Rules | Division Rules | Prizes | Legal

  • Only the Team Leader will need to register his guild/team and will be the designated person of contact.
  • Your GvG Championship Series registration is tied to your Guild Wars Guru forum account. This is so that you can edit your team registration if necessary. If you need to register for a GuildWarsGuru.com forum account you can do that here.
  • You must collect all in-game names and e-mail addresses of your team prior to registering. Valid e-mails addresses are very important and necessary so that we can contact your team members if you win for prize distribution.
  • You will need to register your guild for the appropriate division with the NPC Tolkano. IMPORTANT: Only players who register with Guru by April 4th, 2011 will be eligible for prizes.
  • Guild registration will close Monday, April 4th, 9AM PST/12:00 PM (noon) EST/5PM GMT
  • At least two (2) of the eight (8) members of a guild's team must have been a member of that guild for at least seven (7) full days prior to the announced start time of that tournament. The remaining six (6) of the eight (8) players may be any combination of guild members and guests. All members of a guild's team must have their accounts registered with Tolkano, and an officer of the guild must be present in the party in order for the guild to compete.
  • Guilds may have different players compete in subsequent rounds but the same rule listed above applies. Only the eight (8) guild members who competed in the first round will collect any earned Tournament Reward Points.
  • A guild must have at least four (4) human players available to play during a match (in which case the guild may also use up to four (4) computer-controlled henchmen). If a guild is unable to field at least four (4) human players, then that guild forfeits the battle.
  • Players are limited to registering and competing with one (1) team which may participate in one (1) division. Players may not play for any team other than the one they are officially registered to with Guild Wars Guru. Players selected by the tournament staff to be mentors may register and compete in either the Bronze, Silver, or Gold division in addition to the Casual division with their designated team.
  • Guild Wars Guru is not responsible for any mishaps or unfortunate circumstances that may occur in the registration process, during the tournament or afterwards.

The Guild Wars Guru 2011 Championship Series is divided into 4 separate divisions. All divisions but casual will feature the top 8 guilds advancing to the single elimination rounds, while in casual the top 16 guilds will advance. The format for the tournament will be very similiar to the format for the Monthly Automated Tournaments; wherein a guild will participate in a round-robin style grouping known as the swiss rounds, at the conclusion of which, the qualifying teams will move forward into the single elimination stage to determine an eventual winner.

Gold Division - In this category are contenders that strive to be at the very top of the GvG guilds. (Approximate guild rank range: top 100)
  • Start Saturday, April 16th, 11AM PST/2PM EST/7PM GMT
  • Maps - Uncharted Isle, Isle of Solitude, Frozen Isle, Imperial Isle, Warrior's Isle

Silver Division - In this category are top guilds who are generally in champion point range and are serious contenders for a trim in monthly tournaments. (Approximate guild rank range: 100 to 300)
  • Start Saturday, April 16th, 9AM PST/12PM (noon) EST/5PM GMT
  • Maps - Isle of Jade, Isle of Solitude, Frozen Isle, Imperial Isle, Corrupted Isle

Bronze Division - In this category have little to some GvG experience or are looking to become an established GvG guild. This is the right category for you if you have been engaged in GvG before but are still unfamiliar with some of the common strategies and/or maps. (Approximate guild rank range: 300 to 1000)
  • Start Saturday, April 9th, 12PM (noon) PST/3PM EST/8PM GMT
  • Maps - Isle of Weeping Stone, Isle of Jade, Isle of Wurms, Uncharted Isle, Isle of Solitude

Casual Division - In this category should have very minimal or no prior GvG experience. This division is meant to provide new players a fair chance to go at each other without having to worry about more experienced players. Practice before the tournament is encouraged, but this division should not have guilds who were already well-practiced. (Approximate guild rank range: New players, PvE-centric guilds, guilds off the ladder)
  • Start Saturday, April 9th, 11AM PST/2PM EST/7PM GMT
  • Maps - Isle of the Dead, Warrior's Isle, Corrupted, Druid's Isle, Isle of Jade

It is important that guilds compete in appropriate divisions to ensure each is competitive and fun. Guilds that intentionally play down into inappropriate divisions will be ineligible to receive prizes. If you are in doubt about which division is appropriate for your team, please contact a member of the Tournament Committee before registering.
