edit: Best reason I use any guide here: is to get an item cheap from someone by referring them here (when I know an experienced seller would demand more).... it's almost thievery I know, but they never look down enough to read this post I don't think

I agree to some extent. However on your specific examples, I've never seen wtb for zealous spear, and never been able to sell one for 2-3k after months of searching for a buyer. I also realize that you CAN get 10k from a desperate person for something like the enchanting spear grip, but 80% of people LAUGH, yes, laugh at me when I ask 6k. So you've gotta draw the line between the actual value and what you can get if you are lucky.

Right now I ask 5-6k for +30hp sword pommels. Again, half the people laugh at me and the other have are instant sales. Not many people live on the middle ground; they either want any mod for 1-2k or they are people like you and myself that try and see more value in mods than they may actually have. I know that I often confuse myself by thinking that a certain mod is worth something because one or 2 (probably wealthy) players were willing to offer that much.

I don't disagree with you, I would just like to try and find some value that most people can agree on. I'm pretty sure that if I asked 10k for an enchanting spear grip, I would never get a sale. Although I sell in Lions Arch whereas you probably sell in Kamadan, so that may reflect the quality of buyers that we are experiencing.

And I can easily get all those mods for way less than your absurd prices. Sure - people do pay - no doubt about that - but to say it is the market standard is dumb. Too many people buy/sell unids - I have done so and end up with so many mods and generally can sit there and not get those prices - and it is stupid to sit forever for a few k..... can have earned that elsewhere.

Ok, here are the notes I've been keeping when I buy or sell mods. These prices are all from trades I've made between Oct 20, 2009 and Nov. 15, 2009. For the cases where I buy things, it's usually off Guru threads but occasionally from sellers in game. Sales are all to folks advertising to buy in towns, usually Kamadan. Most of the mods I bought were for my own use, or I was buying on behalf of friends. Most of the mods I sold came off my own gear or storage. I did buy a few mods specifically to see how hard it was to get higher prices, as I was spending time standing around Kamadan anyway.

• 20% Forget Me Not inscriptions - I picked about four of these up for 20k ea. wanting to see how hard it was to get more. Whenever I'm in Kamadan, I see at least two or three people with ads to buy these. I decided to see how long it took to find buyers for 35k. Maybe 25% of the people politely declined. About 50% of the people impolitely declined; one even had to be on my ignore list for a day. The other 25% accepted the price without argument or haggling. So, my results are one in four Forget Me Not buyers will pay 35k for this inscription. Most buyers don't list a price, but I did notice one wtb ad quoting 20k and another quoting 30k.

Slaying Mods & Oldschool Mastery Staff Wrappings

I've been buying slaying mods to make a collection. So far, it seems like sword and axe mods for Demons, Tengu and maybe plants are the only ones with enough demand to make it worth one's time to try to sell for more than the general 1-2k price range for these kind of things.

I've also been gathering up any spares I needed for my set of 20% Staff Wrappings of <Attribute> to use instead of Staff Wrappings of Mastery.

Sorry, I didn't bother to sort this or neaten it. I put the things that are more than 1-2k in bold though.

• 20% Bow Grip of Giantslaying - bought for 1k
• 20% Hammer Grip of Demonslaying - saw one sell for 1k on Guru Auctions. Feedback looks like the trade was completed for that final price.

Personally, I've seen a few people try to sell them and not even be able to get 10k offers. The high-paying market for these mods is either dried up, or hanging out somewhere besides Guru and Kamadan? I bought mine from a seller who had similar feelings about the market for these, and he also claimed he had no reservations about giving me a good deal because he was sure I wasn't just buying it to farm DoA with.)

been collecting bowgrips of creature slaying, which for the most part are fairly random WTB's so they seem to demand more $ from sellers as they might "sense" my desire to acquire, but meh - this is what i've paid so far (all 20% vs.):

charrslaying - 2k (was willing to pay 10k...btw price on 25% nerfed mod - I would pay up to 30k for)

sword mods I've paid 15k, 25k for 20% demonslaying, sold for 100k and 80k (a couple of months ago, so not sure if they still fetch this amount)

In terms of demand driving prices (as it usually does), if I post an ad selling mods, about 85% of people replying are looking for:

~ -5/20 (shield)
~ +30, 20/20 (axe/sword)
~ 20/20, enchanting (scythe)
~ 40/40 (offhand/wand)

I also get a lot of "do you have shield mods?" which often refers to the -5/20, but also frequently +30hp and +10 vs dmg type mods.

I find I can charge a premium for the above mods as they are in such demand. Even if one buyer isn't willing to pay a certain amount, chances are the next one is.

I've even risked spamadan dist1 with no success. Got 1 reply but was a 19% and they wanted 4k for it.

The missing 1% bugs me so that was a no.

Furious spear mods are an easy 8-10k right now.

- bought 25% vs Charr pre-nerf Hammer Grip for 5k from seller who read my shopping list post. (Neither of us knew prices. I warned him it might be worth a lot more on auction if there are other critter-pwning set nuts around like me at the same time.)
- have picked up a few various 20% vs. critter slaying mods since my last post here for 1-2k ea. None of them have been the sword or axe mods for demons or tengu which seem possible/likely to fetch higher prices.

It's -1 energy regen

It's +15 energy

I would like to suggest that this guide either be updated or removed.

I'm tired of people saying they will only pay me 500g for something that is worth 4k+, and referencing this guide. Guru is a great source for information, and thus people think this guide is a great source for information. Unfortunately they do not scroll past the first post, so what we have is people relying on these incorrect prices, and saying "it's on Guru, it must be right". The very system put in place to make it easier for people to buy/sell things is now making it harder.

As I write this, there are 4 other people viewing this thread, and I'm pretty sure 3 of them won't look past the first post.

If you would like for this to be updated, then hop to it. I always look through all the posts in a pc thread as well as the DATES of the posts. Granted i'll still try to get a few of the items for their old prices and sometimes it works. But to create a post complaining about the outdated prices on here is a little silly and a waste of both your time typing it and my time reading it. If you aren't going to put forth the effort to put in new prices, then you have no room to complain IMHO. Besides, this is a guideline not set in stone prices.

By the way I sold a 20% axe grip of tengu slaying for 3k. Might have been worth more, but that's fine by me.
