Default Unidentified weapon bug?

I never heard of it, and I never saw it on ANY forums nor wiki so I ask it here:
Is this common or a bug?

the axe has a vampiric grip on it and even though it is not identified it is still in effect, its fairly common

Not bug. Unid weapons still have their mods, even if you can't see them. In fact, if you're good at math, you can figure out exactly what the mods are without identifying it. (Which is why you should never buy an oldschool unid item for anything other than a title point -- smart sellers test for 15^50 and only sell junk as unid.)

Easiest to look out for is the HP (health) mods.
