Default Um, mini event rant. Flowchart included.

Now, why rant? I mean, it is shiload of content (yay!), always good thing for game or ... mature ... age. Because it is ridiculous!

This stuff is fairly well hidden: You simply have to read forum and wiki. Unlike any other "major" content, it is fairly hard to miss. Mox was basically standing outside town. Zquests, Titan quests, TOPK, etc ... player always knew where to go and what is expected on him (take quest a follow it, mostly.)

But here? Okay, you go check camp and dialogue plays (or visit eotn). Will seccond one play? How much rezones? Where else do I have to go? Did I miss something? Flowchart to the rescue! God help you if you have several characters and you did bit of diffetent stuff on each.

It is basically bare-bones implementation of event system: cascade of events as players triggers them. And it has one major flaw: lack of ... dun dun ... Quest Log. Player here lacks feedback on state of game. It is unclear what to do next and what he has already done.

That is my issue: It is a bit messy. You need flowchart.

(Also, getting several character to state where they can get bounties is pita.)

Yea I hate how it has no log on it whatsoever. Quest log would be nice

I actually think the lack of quest log is a good thing. besides the fact that there arent any real quests (save for the bounty and the scavenger hunt), the fact that you have to find these things makes it that tad bit more interesting, I feel.

but that is just my opinion. I dont always like things handed to me on a silver platter

It would have been nice when you spoke to thacky to know which items you had not yet given him---with multiple characters (15+) I had to keep track on paper, and then I still missed a few (dang bday cupcakes!)....and then all the dialogues to sit thru

well, I dont believe I will be doing it on all of my characters ....unless there is something really BIG as a reward for it.

Well said!!!

This is somewhat like when GWs came out and we would go to areas just to see what was there as many places didn't really serve a storyline purpose.
We had a rule that anyone who made a new necro had to go to cap the MM skills from Verata.


anyone else remember when people played games for FUN???

or better yet, anyone remember GWs pre wiki?

Same for me. It feels more like an adventure and like you're really partecipating, when you have to discover things instead of talking to some guy, not reading what he says (I doubt many people really read all the quest text) and following an arrow.

A quest log on an ongoing event doesn't make much sense, especially one where there isn't a plan layed out. But yes I agree with you, it does leave players somewhat lost in the game, if it weren't for the wiki I'd still be looking for the next bit of content.

I don't pve much and do find it a bit confusing, and i guess it does alienate some players a bit.

Think a lot of players do enjoy the adventure feel to it though. Wouldnt be surprised if they do make it a bit simpler once it's finished, i dunno.

Yeah that's why I'm only doing stuff on my warrior simply because I don't feel like going through all the dialogue and rezoning to make sure that I have everything to get into the keep.

I wonder how many players, who don;t visit forums/wiki, have absolutely no idea there is any event going on other than the uninformative login message.

If it helps, Ive found that you dont really have to do that much to get the new content.

1)Watch Zinns Trial.

2)Go to Shining Blade Camp.

3)Watch all the dialogue in the Shining Blade Camp.

4)Zone in and out of the camp until you finish the dialogue with Zinn and they leave for the new lab. There is a zone at the south east corner of the camp to save time.

After that the new content will be available. No need to even go to EotN with all your characters.

Doesn't really matter, it is not required content or anything, you don't need it to complete the game or progress, it is just more end-game stuff for people who have played everything in Proph and EotN.

And it is not like they can;t ask for themselves, online games are founded on player interactions, if they can't ask someone or bother to look and find out for themselves, then they don't need to worry about it to begin with.

If that is required by characters to see the content, then yes, you DO need to go to EotN for each character, but I don't see much reason to at this time anyways (for what? bounties? bah)

It would have been nice if a book had been implemented documenting your character's progress in the WIK storyline, similar to the mission/ dungeon guides etc..

That way all you'd have to do is double click the book to see how far into the unfolding story you are, with a small paragraph to refresh your memory on each "stage".

You know what would be helpful? A reminder popup when you zone into certain areas. Like when you get to a port city for the 1st time on a new toon and it tells you who to talk to go to the other campaigns. When a new bounty is available in LAK the dialouge would say "Princess Salma summons you to Lion's Arch Keep. Please speak to [insert NPC's name] to access it.".

Very disappointed in Anet. All the quests up till now were fluff, now the real rewards show up, and we have to grind every character though this? I thought they were forgoing the quest structure because they wouldn't REQUIRE people to experience events in order, which by the way is one of the major benefits of the event system. Instead we have genuine quests, warts and all, minus a quest log to track them.

Or you could just have done them while they were introduced.

Nefore people complained about "non-content" - now people complain because they were lazy and couldn't be bothered and now have to "grind".
