Some clarification on PvE-related discussion
I don't think there's been a clear statement on this sort of thing, and there have been numerous complaints and a lot of deleted threads and posts, so I'll try to explain the moderator consensus on PvE discussion here (and if the other mods disagree then PRESS THE EDIT BUTTON, I DARE YOU):
Gladiator's Arena is for discussion of the PvP aspect of Guild Wars. Discussion of PvE-related stuff isn't discouraged because the mods hate PvE, or because it invokes sour flame wars, it's discouraged because it simply doesn't belong here.
Discussion of it is allowed selectively, mainly when it ties in to the concerns of existing discussion, or when it is related to PvP in some way. If a post or thread doesn't meet one of those criteria, it's definitely going to be circling the drain in short order.
For example, discussing the impact of the Soul Reaping changes on Minion Masters in PvE:
- By itself, this has nothing to do with PvP.
- Suggesting future changes solely due to PvE concerns also has nothing to do with PvP.
- Discussing the role PvE has in the process of balancing PvP-related things, for example, is allowed.
- If someone else brings it up (i.e. if someone claims there was no impact and you think there was), and you want to refute their claim, then it's related to existing discussion even if it's not related to PvP, and is generally okay, if discouraged. Posts like this MAY stay up provided they don't derail the thread.
As with all things, if you have a question about the rules, guidelines, and enforcement of them, please PM a mod.
