Thanks for the heads up. I'm eager to know where to be signing up for this Test Krewe, and I hope you've got more surprises and things you're not telling us about like the last content update.

Holy crap
I like that a lot, heroes don't help ha/gvg at all except to form groups and its really not hard to get 8 instead of 6/7 for any arguing about that. Burn in hell godly interupts/wepspell prots.
Reserving judgment on what comes from the test "krewe" but could work.

Hopefully you get some knowledgeable people in this testing server access and not a bunch of retards...
But sadly you're over a yeah and a half too late on the first problem, and 3 years too late on the 2nd problem. Seriously why did you close the alpha testing anyway if you are basically going to go and re-open it again...

They'll likely make sure to sort out the "Haha, this will be fun to screw with!" people from the "Now I can finally contribute to the advancement of the game!" people.

If it involved paying people to test, I'm sure it's easy to understand that they'd want to strike those people off the payroll. Besides, now that they have a solid playerbase, why wouldn't they use them as volunteer labor? It's free, it gets more effective results since it's bound to be a wider audience, and it lets them listen to the people that care enough to help test out the updates.

Removing Hereos from GvG and HA & New Live Test Crew
Here’s a heads-up on some of the things we’re working on:
* Removing Heroes from GvG and HA. This is something that many players have been asking for for a long time. We still want people to be able to participate in the action even if they can’t field a full team, so we will replace Heroes with a bunch of new Henchmen. We are currently working on the details, so we can’t give you a concrete timeline, but we do know that we want you to be involved. We’re looking for suggestions on the skills you want to see for those Henchmen, so start thinking about those skill bars!
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:...-_19_June_2009
they nip hexes in the bud slightly this month now they announce fixing Heroway.

This.
I also find this ironic when they stated they are adding more positions for the Live team. So which is it? Lack of man power or have they finally concluded closing alpha was a bad choice hence 3+ years of mediocre balance after Factions release.
Also until there are finer details posted on the website entailing what actually is going to occur within the Test Crew we don't know if it really is for the better.
How many testers there will be and what are they testing/which environment. If it's just testing for skill bugs like the ones causing GW to crash in the last update that's pretty sub par.
Regarding Heroes, why even bother implementing more henchmen to fulfill the role you want gone in the first place? Added work. All that's going to come from it is wasted time. More henchmen with static skill bars that no one will want to use them. Isn't the end result not to have AI in the place of human players? If so just remove the option.
If heroes>henchmen why? If heroes=human than why would the playerbase want or take henchmen? Alas by wasting time and adding more henchmen with sub par skill bars that won't change, you've just effectively removed the desire to take AI(short route just remove heroes and add no new henchmen)

Pretty much what I want to know as well. are you testing what effect the skills will have in certain PvE areas, whether or not they are too powerful or useless in PvP situations, or just making sure they do what you want them to (aka no bugs). If you are going to test skills for PvP, I hope you are very selective on who you pick and actually choose people who have a very high understanding of the game and not just lucky number 15 that we pulled out of a hat.

-Introducing a Guild Wars Live Test Krewe: to help test upcoming updates and skill changes. We’re opening up the testing process to players, and if you are selected you will be able to access our test server and directly interact with our developers! We’ll put up an application form on our website once we finalize all the details. Two things in advance: due to legal reasons, you need to be at least 18 if you want to apply, and you need to speak and write English fluently.
oh man, epic.

Alpha did not really do anything productive the first time, so why are you bringing it back? Many players will only give ideas that give their style of play an advantage, even though there is almost no incentive to do so anymore. Obviously, this does not apply to everyone, as some players have been very non-biased when discussing game balance, but the majority will try to increase the strength of their favorite style of play.
