Default Suggestion for suggestion forum

Right now, you aren't supposed to /sign or /notsign anything. However I think that they are a way of letting the OP and others know how much an idea is generally liked or disliked. However there is a good point about a lot of /signed being a PITA.

So I'd like to make this suggestion: when you create a post in the suggestion area (which includes the character concept area) a 3 option poll is automatically created. Every post will have the same three poll options: signed, not signed, and other. This would allow people to give their approval or disapproval without having to rate the thread in question (not everyone gives ratings, but they might be more willing to give a thumbs up or thumbs down).

Winterclaw, ironically enough we were discussing just such an option the other day. The problem we run in to is that for this to be a VB mod or hack it's very difficult to find such a thing for just one forum that doesn't create it across all the forums. The moderators and admins have been discussing a lot of different ways to manage this so if anyone else has suggestions we'd like to hear from you as well.

I take it the programming language you use for vB mods doesn't have if...then statements.

Doesn't vB have an option were you can only allow polls on certain boards? If so and you can manage to pre-configure the polling options, you might want to look at adding polls to the suggestion forums and let forum goers use those if they like instead of a normal post.

it would be great if we could create polls for Sardelac Sanitarium.

php does have if else statements, pretty much every programming language does.

Yes, vB does. IPB is far more flexible when it comes to those things though. It would be nice for people to be able to add a poll with signed or not signed, etc.
