Q&A Forum Rules and Frequently Asked Questions •Revised•
Welcome to the Questions & Answers forum!
The purpose of this forum is simple: someone asks a question, someone else answers it. Guild Wars Guru prides itself on having knowledgeable forum members and staff, and there is most likely someone here who can help you. However, we do need to keep this forum clean (and we've had incidents in the past), so there are some ground rules:
General rules:- The regular Forum Rules and Guidelines apply here.
- If you have a question regarding Guild Wars 2, please take the time to head over to the new Guild Wars 2 Guru forum.
- Please use punctuation, sentences, and paragraphs in your posts. We need to be able to read your post first before we can answer it. If you have trouble spelling or using punctuation well, you should check spellcheck.net and Punctuation.
- If there is not a question in your thread, it will be closed. We need a question before we can give an answer. If you want to make a FAQ or thread to answer a common question, ask a moderator or administrator first. Rants are not welcome in Q&A.
- Wrong answers will be disproved and/or deleted. Your "opinion" does not matter in the Q&A forum, only what is the correct answer. If someone disagrees with your answer but you think you're correct, be prepared to back it up with evidence. If you disagree with someone else's answer, be prepared to back it up with evidence. If a moderator has deleted your answer, it is most likely because you were seriously wrong.
- If you have a problem with moderation, please contact a moderator or administrator.
- If you have a general inquiry about Rule Infractions, how to check your forums Infraction history or help on how to report a "bad" post/thread, then please check out "Rule Infractions, Warnings & Mini-Bans" in Site Feedback.
Posts that will be deleted:- Threads asking for prices of items will be deleted on sight. Those threads belong in the Price Check forum.
- Similarly, posts offering to buy or sell items will be deleted. There is already Ventari's Sell for that. If someone asks where an item can be found, that does not mean that you offer to sell it to them.
- Don't ask about things that are not permitted by the EULA, such as trading accounts or buying gold.
- Don't respond to questions asked months or years ago. The person has most likely forgotten about the thread and/or things have changed since then, so your answer isn't helping anyone.
- Posts that only point people to the Guild Wars Wiki. These aren't useful posts at all. Please respond with an answer or a specific wiki page.
Threads that will be closed:- Anything that can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers) thread or stickies at the top of the forum will be closed.
- Asking for opinions on what you should spend your money on. Everybody's opinion is different, so there is no point in continuously discussing the matter in a thread.
- "I've done _______, now what should I do next?. Much like the post above, how you play the game is entirely up to you.
- Asking about how to earn gold/money/items is not allowed. There are enough threads already, and there is now a guide with common ways to make money in the game.
- Don't ask questions to Arenanet here. If you have a problem with your Guild Wars account such as an accidental ban, send it to Guild Wars support, don't post it here. If your account has been compromised, again, visit their support. There is nothing we can do for you. Note that accounts that have been compromised after Oct. 1, 2011 have the possibility of being restored. See their post for more information.
- Don't post the response you got from Guild Wars support and expect us to solve your problem. If they say they can't help you, we can't do anything about it.
- Anything that obviously belongs in another forum, such as asking about builds, will be closed. If you're not getting an answer in another forum, such as Price Check or the Campfire, don't make another thread here.
- If you want to discuss or debate a topic and want a lot of people's opinions, such as about recent game updates, you should post in the Riverside Inn instead.
