Looking at that site with bots i think it's even dangerous to be in the same district with bots. For example that EDITED :lets just call it some chest running bot . Person who isn't using bot and running repeatedly those chests for lucky points might be reported for botting and perma banned.
Hell atm i can't think out any reason why would anyone refuse to buy another gw account and load a bot. This might be the reason why they aren't doing anything about it.
Keeping the thread alive.

Default Bots are not evil, grind is evil

Stop complaining about the bots. Bots are not a bad thing, bots are a byproduct of a bad thing.

Repetitive, linear gameplay, that rewards time over skill = bad.

Bots are the cure.

(Note: there are some exceptions, but none in PvE)

If you don't like repetitive linear gameplay, then don't play the games with repetitive linear gameplay.

Bots are degenerate. They serve no beneficial purpose to the health of a game. You can already see the damage done by the parasites that use them. Just try to play Jade Quarry. You can't get a game without at least one useless bot.

Bots and those who use them should be eradicated like the infestation they are.

PvP is not grind, yet people bot it.

Current "falken botting" is not driven by grind either. Just by profit.

You might have point about drink bots and such, but not about current botting scene, not by far.

It's true. And most of us still playing are definitively as bots!

But there is another side to it, that is as time goes by people tend to automate things. So it is normal that people (that can) write code to automate what they "bot-by-hand" to bot by software automatically instead.

In reality if someone would take the time they could write a software bot that emulates the human behavior so its undetectable, making it fail sometimes on purpose like humans do, or take random breaks or walk randomly... anything we do in GW can be done automatically in a software, not very complex one either

I know a lot of people here have this impression that GW is skillful play, but that's not so true, all GW play can be automated and done better by machines which in my opinion is the exact opposite of skill.

He's made a solid amount of money selling bots, considering that it's more of a hobby for him than anything else. There's an obvious profit to be made from producing bots and Anet sure seems to be profiting off of them.

EDIT: Oh, and it looks like Gaile went down her talk page and answered a bunch of questions. Guess which one she skipped over? Yep, our little botting question was ignored as if it were that chick with the headgear who sits in the corner at prom.

Classy move.

Unfortunately, it's not just a gui. It's a working bot. I know Danny pretty well, and he has several bots that run well (including one that can do ToPK for ectos). I've seen this one in action personally. It works.

ANET, just make it all for free at this point. Put in a Santa Claus NPC, type in what you want and HO F&@$ing HO Santa awards it to you. Everyone can fill up their HOM and get whatever the hell you want. No need to bot anymore since the motive will be removed. Why bot when you can it for free.

If you do not want to use Santa then don't. This is beyond crazy at this point.

If people would write their own bots that would at least be some accomplichment.

Well, strictly speaking, if he wrote the software then it is not third-party software and therefore his account is not bannable for using third-party software.

But most botters will likely just abuse something other people created.

Who? Danny? He's been reported more times than I can count. I think he may have even reported himself.

Anet doesn't care. Hell, half of the bot-script writers I know have never been banned....ever. Not once.

Sounds like a resounding "approval" to bot.

No comments from Anet staff. Lots of extra accounts around, no longer being used for XTH. Sounds like a recipe for a bot bumper crop.

From what I read on that bot site, the enabler in this whole fiasco is the .dll injection of the graphics.dll file that is permitted for "legal" user mods. It might be time to brush off some of those extra accounts, and put them to "work".

Get off your hands Anet. Silence speaks volumes.

Need I say more? Read the above. Software engineers can have a hobby you know? Some contribute to open source, some write GW bots... to each his own.

I don't know if you're aware of this, but Guild Wars is MARKETED AS A GAME WITHOUT REPETITIVE LINEAR GAMEPLAY.
