Petition to Demand a Response from Anet on Botting
Well, as most of you probably know, botting has grown exponentially in Guild Wars over the last few months. By the latest estimates, over 5,000 players are currently running a popular botting program (that I'm not allowed to mention here) and many of them use more than one account to bot. That's not even counting the absurd number of players who use other botting programs or write their own bots.
This doesn't just affect one aspect of the game. Currently, there are RA (glad) farming bots, raptor farming bots, numerous interrupt bots, gamer point farming bots, Dragon Arena bots, Rollerbeetle bots, spike bots, and soon a full team of HA farming bots.
If this anniversary didn't draw attention to it, I don't know what will. People were selling over 1,000 stacks of Cupcakes in Kamadan at any given moment during the event because of this problem and Codex, RA, JQ, and FA are a mess due to these (soon enough, HA will be too).
If there's nothing you can do, Anet, then admit to it. If you can do something, do it.
tl;dr - /sign if you demand a response on botting from Anet.

Yes i would love a response to the bot problem but i still dont think they can do much about it. Im sure if they could stop the bots they would have done it already but i can still hope something will happen. Its killing pvp, pve i dont care much about because its already easy but its still breaking the rules.

Mandatory /signed.
Botting is a highly important issue right now as easy to use bots are free to get and public.

I'm not saying they'll respond, but we can still demand a response. If they don't give us one, then that just means that they're too cowardly to do anything about it anyway (remember Red Resign?).
I've heard that the TK is pushing them on this as well and that they're "supposedly" working on something. I'm still pretty skeptical. I don't think they can do a damn thing, and if they could, I doubt they would.

Bots and cheating programs have ruined several other games that I've played and I think most games are infested with them, GWs originally didn't have this problem and dealt with any kind of cheating swiftly but it seems they have been overrun as well.
Zero tolerance is the only solution for this and I hope you are doing a better job of keeping them out of GW2 then you are currently doing in GWs.
I would like to hear as well, what happened, did you send everyone who protected GWs from this crap to work on GW2 or did these botter punks just magically get smarter than your game and you can't do anything about them?

I'd love to hear a response, but I don't think "demanding" is appropriate.

How many times does the people at Anet have to say that they ban thousands of bots a month? This has been talked before and is nothing new. They ban thousands a month. And thousands replace them.

All "forcing" them to do will get you some boilerplate about them watching the problem, banning bots, and possibly exploring solutions, or something. If that's what you want, okay.

I'm sure we'll get one, but you know exactly the format it's going to be. Here, I'll speak for arenanet:
We are working around the clock to combat botting. We have banned 5,000 accounts this week for botting. If you suspect a bot, please use the report feature and or contact support with the matter.
Thanks.

The problem with your statement is that it's very untrue. Sure, the bots in Bergen Hot Springs get banned and then replaced, but there are literally THOUSANDS of players who bot daily and have never been touched.
Thousands....that's not a joke. Go on the main GW botting forum (again, I can't name it) and you can talk to guys who have been botting on 10+ accounts for over a year and haven't been touched.
The problem is that Anet only catches stupid bots (like the Bergen ones or the JQ ones) and they rely almost entirely on players reporting them. Players can't tell the difference on most of the public bots now because they're too good, and neither can Anet if they don't use any other protocols to catch them besides behavior.
EDIT:Again, I doubt they're doing a damn thing. I just think it's time we let them know that we're sick of it and that we want something done.

Oh, that reminds me. I forgot to mention that raptor bot users commonly use a chest-running bot to use all the lockpicks they get. So, lucky/unlucky titles + treasure hunter/wisdom are affected as well.

I still don't understand why they can't update the client to break the injection methods? They managed to break KSMod because some bots were using the same exact method KSMod used, so can't they do a little more coding and stop allowing DLL injections?

You know that's bull. Go to Fort Aspenwood. There are botters that have been there since atleast last summer. (A certain elementalist....I'm sure you know who.) He has Dishonorable hexes on him all the time. I've reported him. Others have. I've manually reported him through the ncsoft website. Point is, if they're actually looking at reports, they'd see that this asshat has been labeled a leecher (automatically by the system) and by several players since last year! I'm about 95% sure that reports go directly to limbo.
They don't care about Guild Wars 1 anymore. They've left it to waste away while they're working on Guild Wars 2. For now it feels like they're keeping GW1 servers running solely so they can make a few bucks out us retards (yes, me too) that keep paying them for novelities like costumes. Its sad, I know, but I can't see them taking great strides to help a five year old game. I want them to come out and do something because I do still enjoy aspects of this game (I spend a lot of time in FA.). so /signed. However, I don't have much faith in them doing anything. Not atleast anytime soon. I can really hope that Guild Wars 2 will be managed better.
If you manage to get a response out of Regina (didn't someone bring up bots to Gaile already?) or anyone, it will be similar to the response this person posted. No offense or anything. Chances are they won't bring the banhammer down this time or do anything remotely good for an old busted game.

All this talk about bots sounds so game breaking. Do any of the JQ bots that get reported get banned?
