Offical Event! Dragon Festival Redux FAILURE DISTRICT!
Ok, I think we should have a fun event! I will host this glorious (or not so glorious event) during the Dragon Festival finale!
The goal? Fail each event leading up to the finale! That way, TONS of grasps are in the district by the end. MUHAHAHA
Every two hours beginning at 2 AM; final event begins at 10:00 PM Pacific Standard Time!
The district will be the most unlucky district of course! ID13! Be there! I will be camping ID13 for this event, and hopefully we can fill it up with a bunch of losers! I know I am a loser! I want to get some hilarious screenshots of 10,000 grasps running around.
I don't have much to offer in terms of contests, but I will arrange for some small prize drawings and quiz questions for some neat prizes. Instead of starting a donation pool, if you have some extra greens or booze lying around and want to donate, give them to me during the event and I will pass them out as prizes.
I will be using Trade Chat to communicate.
Activites will include!
1). Conga Lines
2). Deux's Quiz Questions from the Depths of FoW!
3). Dance contest (best synced dancing formation wins a group prize)
4). Battle of the Bands!
I hope to see all you losers there!

I'm not a loser, good sir. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to cry into a pillow.
Enjoy the beauty of a single man conga.

Since the point of this event IS to sabotage an A.net event - I'd really like it if you keep announcing in the Local chat what you'll be doing there - so that the player's who don't like your idea of "fun" can leave.
Otherwise I do hope you'll get reported.

I doubt I'll be there, but have fun. It's a creative event and, unlike the other posters here, I think it's an interesting idea.
I wouldn't call it sabotage, it's just good, creative fun.

If the Grasps staying has not been fixed, this should make for some funny screen shots.
If it has....then its your event that has failed.
I'll try to remember to check it out some time durring the finalie though.

Quick q. Why are you using the trade channel? I would think local works best since I'm sure not everyone who happens to spawn in the district is going to know what is going on.
And wouldn't the people who have been told to use trade chat for trade or possibly face a temp ban be just a little put off by this?

I don't think you'll get in any trouble with Anet. They have a sense of humor and I'm sure would appreciate the intent. It's not malicious in the slightest. Just some harmless fun.
Though I agree that you may want to use local chat because some people may not be aware of your plans and also could have the trade channel turned off. I know I have it off unless I'm using it.

Man if they stay, this will so rule for people who have no need for a mask or useless drops. I will be there later on to see if the LULZ are in effect.

Timezones make it impossible for me to come on during that event. Sounds like it would have been fun though, assuming the glitch hasn't been corrected.

You go to the event and what can you reasonably expect?
If the event is created to gather presents then a a participant can expect that most of other players will work towards that goal. Sure there might be some that won't work for it - but that is to be expected. IF the whole district decides to work against what a normal user would expect (without announcing it just to attract more players)- then yeah, I would call that sabotaging the event. Especially since it comes from the user who thought that players acting like morons were doing just that at his events (or events he participated in) and his urge to report them resulted in them being banned (eg. he of all people should know better!)
So I really don't see the reason why players attending this event shouldn't be screaming their lungs out every few secs that they are having their own way of fun and that it might be better that players that do not want it leave. There will be other districts so this shouldn't be a problem - but I feel very strongly about them keeping shut and thus ruining the expected fun for the unlucky person that might wander in expecting the participants to actually play the game as it was intended!
But then again - this is all hypothetically - since I have no idea if the party plan included the announcement of what will be happening. It was just something that I feel must be considered!

Off this threads topic but still on the event topic
So this will be exactly the same as the weekend in July? or think they listened when we said it was a good oppertunity to introduce GW:EN like the 2006 (apparently, i wasn't playing at the time) intro'ed NightFall
But either way spend the weekend farming VT's for Sweet Tooth
Hope my 188 Luna Tokens have a use some time got them while i was new so didn't know to spend them before the event ended lol

Play the game as it was intended? My my, so failing intentionally is sabotage? Well, I think someone needs a timeout... Oh, and I am fully aware you are a troll at all community events because you lack a sense of humor and find that your own games and crude sense of humor are somehow wanted and appreciated by the guests of community based events. I have news for you... they aren't. So why don't you take your negative attitude elsewhere, out of my FUN thread and go try to ruin someone else's day, like you so much enjoy doing. Personally, I don't have the time nor the patience to deal with the likes of you. But, you might want to rethink who you are attacking. I do nothing but nice things for the Guru and GWO community, giving away 100s of thousands of my own gold and items as prizes. What do you do good sir? Complain? Bitch constantly? Who has the better character here? I think that answer is fairly clear. Go humbug somewhere else.
Now, back on topic. The event is being changed. ID6 atm, I will update if the need arises. So...
International District 6 = Failure district.
The great thing is, we will quickly find out whether or not the glitch is present. Once we lose the first few contests, there will be enough grasps to ensure a loss thereafter. So basically, we lose the first 3-4 on purpose, and then the grasps can take over (if the glitch is still present)
As a note: I will be warning players who are not part of the event to leave if they do not want to fail, as it would be a pity that players who actually wanted to win were stuck in our district. So, I could use some help in that respect. Once in a while, once the finale event starts, tell people that we are going to fail on purpose, so if they don't wish to fail, they have a chance to zone to a different district.

Sure, with a name like "Rahja the Thief" why wouldn't I give you my greens so you could . . . "disperse" them?
I kid, I kid. GL making D13 unlucky (it was hilarious when I stumbled into a loser district at Dragon Festival 2007a)

Well, I'll stop right there... the event is created to recreate the demon attack on shing jea in a playful manner, and to have fun playing festival games. The presents are just a bonus that you may or may not get. think of it as an oldschool rpg with two endings, sure one ending may be better than the other in terms of what happens to your character, but you still want to see them both. one ending, you have a sea of presents. the other ending, you have a sea of grasps. gold and greed vs humor and fun?

Thank you.
That's all I asked for.
Now excuse me for not lowering to your pissing contest. Have a great time at the event!

Actually I've always wanted to see what happened when the good guys failed . I'll have to stop by and par-take in this screen shot taking event, providing you can have any rips and tears my cloak suffers repaired in doing so. That and as long as the grasps leave the face alone, my ole ranger is ugly enough !
If I recall wasn't the odd numbered dists the ones that people from this community wanted to be the ones that failed, like on Wintersday, ect . ?
I would call this just clean fun.
