Ya, um today I heard from a friend that the release date was being moved, but im not sure if it is true. I heard it was moved from the 28 to the 26, is it true? Thanks for the responses

Last I heard, the 28th is still the date set in stone.

The 26th is the date that most online retailers(ebgames, gamespot, etc) are shipping. This is their attempt to get the games out to everyone the same day that it is released.

Yeah EB Games is shipping the 26th which is cool, we can go the 26th for in store pickup eh?

and the 27th is the date the servers go live for the preorder people

No, it will be like Microsoft did with Halo 2, the store will have to game, but they will not be allowed to put it on the shelves until the 28th. So if the store wanted they could open at midnight and let people buy it, but not before then. And even if they did, you wouldn't be able to play until the 28th anyway.

It is also possible that your friend got information from the interview that Jeff Strain did with CVG here . The notes at the bottom show that the game will be available in the US from April 26. However, until ANet says anything about it, I'm assuming that they haven't moved up the release date by two days (wouldn't make a whole lot of sense anyway...).

To clarify for everyone:

Guild Wars is officially released on the 28th. The servers will be opened for retail keys on the 28th. The servers will be open for preorder keys on the 27th.

Guild Wars will be shipped on (or around) the 26th. All that means is that the boxes have been sent from the distributors to the retailers and some preorder customers. Customers who preordered might receive their box early (on the 27th).
