Need clarification

On the ordering page for guildwars it says that it will link the game to the account that you logged into the ordering page with, is this talking about the plaync account or the account I logged into guildwars with?

I forgot my plaync account password so if its that

Edit: actually never mind, turns out you don't really even need the plaync account anymore.. Was it always like that?
