Friends List Bug - Guild Wars Forums

I cannot add new people into my friends list by typing their name, anytime I press a hotkey for anything such as L is opens my quest menu and the name is was typing disappears...
Would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

L opens the quest log (with the system defaults) and N opens your friends list. The only reason I can think of you not being able to add friends to your list is if it is full. Do you have a field box below "Friends" in your friends list? If no, then your list is full and you'll either need to trim the list, or figure out another way to keep track of them

If you are typing in a textbox, such as the line that allows you to add people to your friendlist, then this should not happen. make sure you click on the textbox before you start typing.
If there is not a textbox, then your list is full and you need to delete some names before adding more. Surely you have people on the list that you either don't talk to anymore or no longer play.

How could I be typing in the text box if my friends list was full?

My friends list is not full, I can copy and paste names into the text box but cannot TYPE.
Thanks for the advice but I did make sure I was clicked on the textbox before I started typing.

Just to clarify, I can type some of the word but as soon as I type a hotkey or, as I just discovered, someone on my friends list zones (the area they are in changes) it seems to reset it.

Can anyone shed any light on this other than stating the obvious?

If someone on your friends list changes areas or characters it is known to cancel what you are typing, so you are basically kicked out of the friends list back into the game. The only known remedy is to type it again or ask all your mates to stop moving for 10secs so you can type it.
This is a known bug but Anet have not been able to remedy it.

I had this repeatedly happen one time too, also for no apparent reason. I just shut the game and reopened it, and it worked fine again.

This bug happens also to me. I can't add any newperson to my friend list cuz after few letters that box is closing or some another windows are open like Quest List etc and the only way to add friend is using copy/paste option but anyway I confirm the bug.
