Default i dont get it ..

How is a mo/a good at RA / TA ? oO theres bound to be a RTW ranger in TA all the time and in RA palm strike sins . i just dont see how come its rated so high when RTW rangers can blow this build to smithereens.

http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:Mo...adow_Arts_Monk

maybe im just not getting how to use this build in RA or TA. i'd gladly appreciate if someone would explain the concept behind this build and how it got the RA and TA tags.

its even rated almost as high as /w dual stance monks.

You have guardian to block ranger interrupts..
That build even has spirit bond, and the RTW rangers do over 60 damage so spirit bond is usefull..
You can mend touch the cripple so sin can't kd you..

well with flail , they can probably interupt my mending touch by knocking me down faster than i can cast it .

heres another one which i found archieved on PvXWiki

http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:Mo...nediction_Monk

which led me to this

http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:Mo...al_Stride_Monk <- whose ratings are also high

and i came to this

[Word of Healing@15][Patient Spirit@15][Guardian@5][Dismiss Condition@5][Spotless Mind@15][Holy Veil][Distracting Shot][Natural Stride@8]

i always run my monks on 15 healing if im using spotless mind because of the extra hex removal. i'm sure you guys can run on 14 if you like. but i just want to know what you guys think.

Attributes are

healing prayers = 12 + 1 + 2
protection prayers = 5
divine favor = 8 + 1
natural stride = 8

ive tried it and it isnt so bad. its just like those TA monk builds with shield bash but mines natural stride which includes a speed boost as well.

idk if it has been posted before but i know i wasnt the first one who taught about this build. read the discussion page on

http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:Mo...al_Stride_Monk

tell me what you think about this and i still need more explain on mo/a

turrets can easily be countered with spirit bond. its rated high because you can return far away from the melee. and why would you run the major healing prayers mod just use an enchanting staff. most use a protection prayers staff of enchanting because most protection spells are enchants.

thats true .. but im not good with weapon swapping on a monk yet . cause you constantly need to do it and its kinda hard ><

Out of curiousity; why did you put distraction shot on a monk bar?

well if you have holy veil on you , hexes take a longer time to be casted on you, this would allow you to interupt em with dshot and it helps also when opponents try to res. i tried this build for fun earlier, it wont be as good as others but i managed to dshot woh and their monk was asking who dshot his woh

Their usages tags aren't always marked specifically. For example, a bar might be designed to play in a TA environment. Someone decides that if it works in TA, it must also work in RA and puts a tag on for that. Then someone else comes along and decides that it works nice in AB too, so puts a tag on for that.

Eventually, you get a build that's rated "Great" for all these things because the builds there are rated on the builds and not for each format they were put in. It might say "Great" for TA, and that might be true, but then take it into AB and it might not be so "Great" anymore. The main bar posted would probably be only mediocre compared to other bars specifically designed for AB. But if you really must, at least take a look at the variants below for suggestions (don't take a [[resurrection signet] in when you don't need it).

Turret rangers are only scary if the player using it is good. IAS from [[flail] does help make interrupting easier, but you'd be surprised how some people still manage to mess it up. If they are good, be better or hope your anti-physical is. Cancel cast when you can, hide behind objects, back up out of their range so they have to move forward a bit (I know it's hard with a flatbow, but it can still be done if your frontline isn't camped or focused on).

Palm Strike is 1234567 no matter how you look at it. The only difference is people who actually do the whole chain on recharge and people who know how to tab around and do fake and/or mini spikes. But the build still remains very fragile and easy to mess up. [[Distracting Shot] and it's useless for at least 20 seconds (TA, GvG). [[Diversion] and it's 53 seconds (GvG). Keeping it snared down or anti-melee'ed works too (TA, GvG). [[Draw Conditions] and [[life sheath], or [[foul feast] the cripple and a full chain will never get off (TA, GvG). Even a simple [[Shield Bash] messes up the chain for 15 seconds (TA). It's relies on it's elite so much that it's just not that hard to mess it up.

well that answered my question. so im guessing what you meant is that mo/a isnt meant for RA ? you dont get good necs / mesmers in RA so chances of a good Anti Physical is pretty low. palm strike isnt a big problem for me, the 3 main problems are e-surge mesmers , primal warriors and BA turrets. without any anti physical, they hurt alot ..

A Monk designed for Arena and split play.
thats the description of mo/a. it says designed for Arena , which i presume is RA and TA ?

whereas for the mo/r ZB natural stride , it says
Quote:
A strong AB monk that has a speed boost and a block stance in one skill!
but it has RA, TA, CM Tags .

1) D Shot is sexy.

2) Those builds were on wiki ages ago....before PS Sins and Turret Rangers were so common.

That being said, as others have posted, the builds are still capable of dealing with both.

Grab some stances likes all the other monks and spam them ftw.

As a monk you really ought to have an enchanting weapon.

yes i do have an enchanting weapon, its just i dont like the constant weapon swapping just to cast an enchant.

i feel like that mo/r is somewhat like mo/a but just a +20 seconds interupt and a block + ims skill instead of a shadowstep / half damage + ims skill
