I don't see a point in naming the new place Emily's Beach, it has no relevance to the game. Her wish was already fulfilled by the ArenaNet team when they let her play Guild Wars 2, good for her and Anet... There are no needs to leave behind any reminiscences of this incident within the game. It's only a personal matter between Emily, Emily's family, and Anet - a matter which we should not care for since we are in no ways related to her and she is in no ways concerned with us. You guys are too emotional... Why do you even express any condolences for someone you don't even know existed in the first place? It could just be a completely made up story.

I believe this thread has reached its age and should be closed to leave more spaces for more useful topics since we all know that Anet will not name the place Emily's Beach. If they do name it Emily's Beach, be prepared to hear gamers make fun of this place in a demeaning way.

There are two schools of thought in this thread. There is no point in attempts at debate between the two camps. You're starting from irreconcilable priors.

One group holds that this demonstrates how much people at ArenaNet care. Another holds that the event is merely a carefully orchestrated instance of cynical corporate propaganda.

You're both right. Some people at ANet proposed this project because they care. Others greenlighted it (despite cost and productivity loss) because it is cynical corporate propaganda.

Attempting to assert that it is one or the other when it is most certainly both is futile. It's all in how you look at it, and whose decision-making processes you understand/sympathize with.

Yeah im pretty sure we're all pretty touched by this but its just saying we have no idea how it will make the families involved feel OR how it would effect other individuals who are currently suffering from their own termoil
