Is elementalist and mesmer a good combination???

I have done very well with it, and I mean VERY well, and I am very sure there are a lot better than me out there.

That said, the more spells I get and the more options I have available to me inside of my primary class, the less I take from my mez secondary, so much less that often I dont even use my mez secondary at all on my skill bar.

I am looking to change to Ele/Monk basically with the idea that if I am only using Elementalist spells anyway I wont be worse off if I trade in single rez for multiple rez.

YMMV.

I started a elem / mes but felt very fragile in pvp. I'm sure in late game with a good monk on your team it can do very well.

You may also want to consider elem / nec – more survivable and some fun curses.

I like my Mes/Ele... Of course thats not what you're talking about but I do fairly well, because I just cast masses of hexes, and mass attack spells. Well thats all I ghave to say, but I realy on fast cast so... eh

I have never created one myself but could you combine the delaying tactics of the water elementalist and the damage over time ability of the mesmer.

i say take your Mesmer as your primary. this will give you your quick cast ability so that you could cast your Heavy elemental skills quick... aka hit hard hit fast

I'm doing rather well as a ele/mez now all most lvl 16 :) I too hardly use any mez skills mostly flare and firestorm. I find more energy more usefull than quick casting Which is why i took ele over mez. energy storgae gets +3 per level.

I've just about ascended with my Ele/Mes and I have to say that it's a rather effective combination. It's iffy too (very much a "glass cannon" given that both classes are more or less at the bottom of the survivability heap): playing with Henchies is pretty tricky since you have almost no defensive capability, and draw aggro like crazy (esp. if you're aoeing).

Mes/Ele is nice, I'd imagine very nice for PvP, b/c Fast Casting allows you to cram burst DD down an opponents throat, but w/o Energy Storage I'd imagince that you're going to be wagering alot of battles on your capacity to succesfully pull of your one-shots.

Ele/Mes really shine in PvE (they're fine in PvP too, but their merits are more obvious in PvE) as your Mes talents will help mitigate the massive amounts of Energy you'll be dumping into a fight, and Ether Feast can certainly help you through some scrapes.

I am an ele/mo. The ele/mes sounds like a very nice build, but in my opinion the ele/mo is better. As far as I'm cincerned, you NEED to be able to heal yourself, for others rarely do it. Even for all the nice spells, not being able to heal yourself really just isn't as powerful as the monk.

I have a el/me, and it works great as long as you have a monk in your party, or even just the healer hench.

Me/el really just doesn't have enough energy for all the high energy cost ele spells. Couple that with the fact that you can't use the ele runes (since you are mes primary) to crank up your spell dmg and you have a sub-standard nuker.

I have an E/Me build at the moment. I was thinking of a monk as secondary tho. The reason is, as an elementalist (having just recently re-specced to Air) I have noticed that I REALLY miss that Energy Drain. I cannot have more than 1 elite, and usually Lightning Surge is loaded on the bar. So that leaves me with Backfire. I could use Energy Tap instead, but the return is almost worthless. Honestly, if anyone has a great pvp build for Air and mesmer, PLEASE let me know :)

The reason I dropped fire was simple. Fire is a great PvE aoe damage monster. However, there are a lot of those already. People need a single target spiker and Air does that very well.

Also the 25% cut through against armor? Man, that's brutal!

And before someone shoots down Lightning Surge as an easily counterable skill... (I use it so that whoever casts an anti-hex spell blows it on that :> So, if countered, yay free to add somethign else. If not? POW damage and a knockdown.

But since I cant use Energy Drain my mesmer side seems flacid. :(

I have been playing an Elemes as I like to call them that is Air/Inspir since mid BWEs. I would say I do very well in pvp.

- obvious damage dealer with a few very good knockdowns
- air/elem attunements
- ether feast for the self heal
- drain enchants(or inspired enchants) for the energy tap and easy removal of enchants which exposes warriors in a flash
- armor of earth and ward against melee for defenses

Ok first off I am running Fire/illiusion for the Fraglility and immulate combo. It
works well in PvE not PvP. Im looking for a good combo aganst warriors or basily any type of PvP situation.(Mostly close combat >.<)

Ive read before that Air/inspir was great for PvP but how? (pm me if u have a build u would like to share)

I All ways have Problems with Warriors in PvP. I cant get away form them and regroup and i cant face them head on.They annoy the hell out of me.

I have an E/Me now, but im missing something for PvP. Im sure i can handle myself in PvE with a PvP build.

Just looking for some help!

a good fragility combo would be mes/ele using mark of rodgort with about 2-3 points in fire and maxed out illusion. This means every time you hit they're ignited for about a second. I think...freyas or somebody did this and it worked out at about 70-80 dps.

Air spells are fast to cast. Elementalist primary can get Energy Storage. Aura of Restoration heals you every time you cast..350% the cost of the spell you cast with maxed Energy Storage. I know I know +50hp doesnt sound like a lot but considering how often you will casting ...

Think of it as motivation to cast a lot , and isnt it just a great coincidence that a bunch of Air eles casting fast on the same target usually means dead opponent. This is a situation that proves best defense is a great offense.

Once you get your Air elite, you will be hard pressed to find room for a Mesmer skill that doesnt use Inspiration.
