As far as we know, the elite skills are no longer available via trainer nor via quest rewards.e
The only way seems to be to capture them from bosses using them.
To do this, you use the Capture Signet skill, that you can buy at Skill Trainers, starting from Denravi, or by a quest in LA.

So the goal is to make a list of the Elite skills used by the different bosses in the various areas.

Pattern : <SKILL> (<AREA>:<NAME_OF_BOSS>[<TYPE_OF_MONSTER>]) And the more information the better...

People helping to complete the list : I need your input on the ones you find, but PLEASE, only reliable information. If you're not sure about one, please check it before posting.

About bosses that don't seem to have elites : After Ascension, we can assume they nearly all do. But you don't see stances and instant ones showing on the "Skill Used" bar... but they still can be captured (read at end of page 3 for info about that).

Mesmers : if you have Arcane Thievery (and Arcane Echo while you're at it), it might be a good idea to spam it on bosses that doesn't seem to use elites : probably a stance that you could identify that way...

People looking for their elite : Remember that a large part of the bosses are selected randomly for each mission : there will always be a boss at a specific place, but it may be a monk boss or an elementalist boss, for example. So you might have to restart the mission till you get the class that has the elite you want.

You capture skills by using a signet of capture, which you receive from a quest upon first reaching Lion's Arch. the NPC's name is Magi.

To clarify on the location of Oath Shot, it is used by the Jade armor monsters that are called "Jade Bow." You can find this skill in the Iron Mines of Mordugh, on the "T" shaped bridge that has three entrances. This bridge is found after you pass the Dwarven buildings where the troll spawns are located.

One side of the bridge leads towards the caves where the "Seer" is located, while the other side is a shortcut that leads straight to the final boss location(incase you already have the enchanted armor). Past this shortcut is a spawn for a random glowing boss, and the Jade Bow boss type has a chance to spawn there. If you fight your way past the bridge shortcut and you see a different type of boss in the spawn location, then you need to reset the level.

Poison Arrow can be captured on a glowing grawl named Salani Pippip, located in Whitman's Folley. Upon zoning in, follow the path east until you reach a large clearing full of Grawl packs, where a random grawl boss will be located. If you do not see Salani Pippip in this area, but a different grawl boss instead, then you have to exit Whitman's Folley and re-enter to reset the zone.

Marksman's Wager can be captured in two places. During the Thirsty River Trial, the final three enemy teams will include a green skeleton boss that uses this skill. You can also find this skill in the Elona Reach mission, on another skeleton boss that is by the bridge leading to the western crystal.

Can you be more specific? Where are these ice caves? Where is this Berg Frozenfist?

If you go to the zone that is next to talus slope and above witman's, there is a frozen river winding along the bottom that is full of ice golems?ice siege golems? Anyways, he shows up there now and then(he is a big ice golem with red glow). Additionally, in the zone N of that one, which I think is the one containing the mines mission, there is a dorf camp back in a culdesac where I've seen him too. You can't miss that spot, there is a tower on a small hill, curtain wall, sorta like guard patrols, and him lording it up in front of the tower.

I've found lots of elites in the zone due north of talus slope. The place can be nasty, but it has the elite giant boss who has a warrior skill, multiple shadow bosses-there is one place where I find 3-4 shadow bosses and one humanoid boss all together, like a pack---bizarre. THe shadow monster bosses are monk/necro/elementalist/mesmer. You can also get two different blessed griffin bosses, one is a monk, the other is a fire elementalist. They both have elite skills.

Witman's is a great place for some of the skills, as it is small and you can do a loop of the 4-5 bosses real quick, to see if the one you need is up. I've seen ranger/necro/elementalist and mesmer bosses there.

I picked up the following yesterday before I read this:

I almost got signet of judgement from a shadow boss(monk type), but accidentally got some other spell he was casting(doh doh doh).

Jade Bows use oathshot, so if the pattern follows, there will be a jade bow boss using it somewhere too. Kind of hard to look for, those jades are nasty.

I haven't seen any mob use barrage, so have no clue where to start looking.

Poison Arrow is definately in Witman's, fyi. The mob's last name is Pipi I believe, she is one the humanoids. There are two boss mob spawn points for her mob type, one around the ramp leading from the upper ridge down to the shore about 1/3 of the way in from the zone, and another all the way out to the end, up top, near the collecter woman.

I got it there yesterday and just got done taking somebody else there to get it. They were ranger/ele, and picked up something off of one of the shadow bosses too, and grabbed Conjure Lightning in Camp Rankor, so it was good trip all around.

That war skill is earthshaker, fyi, and the mob is in the far nw corner of the zone directly north of talus slope.

There are shadow spawns around him, plus a boss shadow just a hair south, so choose your approach wisely. I didn't know he was there, ended with both bosses at once, it wasn't pretty. My henchmen probably burn me in effigy when I am offline.

Nature Dragon in the dragon mission is bugging me. It should, and probalby does have an elite skill, we just have to figure out how to trigger it, or maybe submit some type of bug report.

Looking at the list of elite skills, only the following do not seem to require a bow:

Practiced Stance - Worthless unless he has another stance, which I doubt, since he never uses it either.

Spike Trap - THis would fit in with the slow everything down nature of the level, maybe he has this. He'd never be able to cast it while we were on him, though, due to interruptions, so it'd have to come before combat which is how othe rmobs use it, but he seems to be coded to not do anything until conflict is initiated, which rules out the normal trap-setting window.

Muddy Terrain - Trumped by pin down, especially since he won't chase anybody more than a few feet, much less an entire group.

Greater Conflagration - Doesn't make any sense, unless he has really high fire resistance.

Escape - This would be good, but if he had it, he'd probably use it every chance he got, which he doesn't.

Melandru's Resilience - See Escape.

Looking at it that way, I figure he has spike trap or muddy terrain, but sees no logical reason to use either when he can spam pin down at the only people who get in range of his melee attacks.

Quick question, where exactly can you find Shadow-type bosses in Talus Chute? I just ran the whole zone a few times and couldn't find a single Shadow. I'm looking for Illusionary Weapon, by the way.

There is one in a crevasse(sp?) in the northwest part of the map, a bit before you get to the entry to camp rankor. It looks like the opening to a mine. Is always a shadow boss there of one flavor or another.

Sometimes there is one right on the road above that spot too, on the way to camp rankor, but not always.

I can't remember the name of the region above talus, but there is a spot in there where 4-5 bosses are sitting right in the same cubby, 2-3 shadow and one humanoid.

Send me a message in game tomorrow evening if you still haven't found them and I'll take you.

Markit in the iron mines mission does indeed use barrage. UNFORTUNATELY, it is a tease, since they don't classify him as a boss. I was clicking the signet button madly and wondering why it worked till I saw the message on the screen saying he wasn't a boss. Was me, another ranger, and 6 henches, the rangers were pissed.

Oathshot can be had off of the jade bow boss in there. There is a jade armor boss too, but I didn't tangle with him to find out what elite he had. There are 3-4 mursaat caster type bosses as well.

There is a dalyak boss that I got Mark of Protection from as well in that mission.

There are two random type shadow bosses, one before and after the seer, same guys we see out in talus slope. The killtask the seer puts you on also sends you after a boss that is like a flying squid, he had a caster elite of some type.

There are two dwarven melee characters down on the frozen lake in the mission, get earthshaker from one and cleave from the other. That dalyak I mentioned earlier is near there as well, just a bit back from the water. WTH, it is a massive glowing dalyak, you can't miss it, lol.

All and all, iron mines is loaded with elite skills, which kind of lessens the agony of having to go through it 5 times, once for each piece of armor.

NOTICE - The devs killed Hundred Blades from Gorgann Hatemonger. I have heard reports from a few players and I personally could not get him to use it again since the patch. Please do not try the below, as it's now void :(

First off, I registered here to make this post for you guys in your effort of compiling a list of elite skills.

This is a short guide for the Warrior elite skill "Hundred Blades", and how to get it, created by Seyda (Seyda Twilight).

Required - Fighter Henchmen, and the Signet of Capture

Min Level Required - You'll need the Signet of Capture, and if you are high enough level to purchase one you're high enough level to do this.

Required Skills - Just bring something to heal yourself with (such as a Healing Signet), and a Resurrection Signet if the hench dies, which he will eventually.

It is found off a mob in The Breach (zoned into from Old Ascalon) named Gorgann Hatemonger. I have found the quickest and most effecient way of finding him, and capturing that skill! It took me about an hour to get the system down, but once I had it, it did exactly what I needed it to do.

First thing you do is work your way down to the sign that points to Piken Square, go the exact other way along the river. Staying to the left with the ctrl button down, you'll see a named enemy and 2-3 normal mobs. If it's Gorgann, proceed on up and kill everything but Gorgann up there. Then as your fighter henchmen slowly pecks at him, stand in the same exact spot he is at, and Gorgann will cast it many many times at you. If it isn't Gorgann, then turn around and zone out, back in and repeat. For me, he spawned there on my 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 8th time I went there.

I also thought ahead and took pictures, resized to 800-640.

Don't worry you haven't missed anything, these areas are for those that have already hit level20. And you can't buy SoC's that early in the game either.

I cant Remember the name of the boss but Eviscerate is from the Warrior Titan Boss at the Three Portals within the Hells Precipice mission(Final Ring of Fire Mission, hell THE last mission).

Mmmh.. I didn't knew stances didn't appear on skill bar, thought they would flash...

So probably half the high-level bosses that don't seem to have elites have in fact elite stances... So might be worth trying to capture; if you have all the other skills he seems to be using...

To capture skills, you need to find a boss that has the skill you want, and as soon as he uses it, you use your Signet of Capture.

The SoC can be obtained by doing a fairly easy (but annoying) quest from Lion's Arch.

You don't need to quest for an SoC. They can be purchased as normal once you get to Denravi and beyond.

Also, capturing stances is a pain. About the only way to do it is to just spam your SoC and keep canceling it by pressing ESC and hoping that you catch the stance you're looking for. Fortunately, only Warriors, Rangers, and Mesmers have to deal with thta and they don't have many elite stances between them to worry about. But still, it's not easy.

Anyhow, nice going so far. Keep up the good work, guys.

It takes out the cancelling process out of the mix from what Rex says, because you can't take any other skill from him, but you'll still have to time it right while your getting whacked. It's definately "easier", but the time consuming part isn't getting shorter.

Right, that can work (actually, I thought I had made mention of that, you just keep rapidly clicking through the chaff, if it's something you already have it doesn't matter, if it's something you don't, you can press ESC and cancel out of it, and you keep doing that - and, you know, survive - until you get your stance), as has been said, to make it a bit easier. But it presupposes you'll have unlocked all the other skills first and that's something you can't always count on. Either way, you just have to keep slamming the SoC button and hope for the best.

As for Wild Blow, yes, but Wild Blow will only cancel a stance if it's evaded or blocked, unless something's changed and I don't know about it, and that means it's not very useful for getting something like Warrior's Endurance.

Hrm, I have seen this (bulls charge), it was used on me by one of the mobs in the gates of kryta quest or one of the quests leading up to it. May have been the one where you know who dies, initials PR where you need to by them safe passage I think. If not, then I cant remember, sorry, should of written it down.

Yeah someone told me that they saw it in one of the snow missions so I went and ran both quests twice, no luck on seeing a monster doing it...

To clarify on the location of Oath Shot, it is used by the Jade armor monsters that are called "Jade Bow." You can find this skill in the Iron Mines of Mordugh, on the "T" shaped bridge that has three entrances. This bridge is found after you pass the Dwarven buildings where the troll spawns are located.

One side of the bridge leads towards the caves where the "Seer" is located, while the other side is a shortcut that leads straight to the final boss location(incase you already have the enchanted armor). Past this shortcut is a spawn for a random glowing boss, and the Jade Bow boss type has a chance to spawn there. If you fight your way past the bridge shortcut and you see a different type of boss in the spawn location, then you need to reset the level.

Well, I don't mean that, I meant what we use to have, the skill trainer locations and what they contained. Because stuff like copperfield mines and such isn't naturally attainable, and people that aren't much for exploring still want to buy skills. Or are the skill trainers already updated?

I found a ranger skill call Spirit of renew. when I go look up it on the skills listing on the guildwar guru I didn't see it there.

it was used by a boss mob call Tree of renewal in the end of d'alessio seaboard mission, a spirit that reduce all skill cost by 15, it was elite as well with a gold border. not sure if anyone saw it.

Went Elite Hunting today got a few more elites and new bosses to name

the mesmer Snake in Elona Reach Tiss Danssir Has Mantra of Recovery its a stance so you dont see him casting it just spam capture signet and cancel if its the wrong one.

In the Frozen Forest the following Bosses can be found
(easiest way to find these is to enter and leave coopermine)

Found Mark of Protection on the Ice Caves of Sorrow mission. It was a Dolyak-like boss.

Also found on the same mission Cleave, but the boss was at the end of the mission, we didn't even had to kill him to end the mission, so it might be hard to capture, even though he fights with some NPCs.

I have only played this mission once, so the bosses may be rotating like they usually do, making Cleave easier to capture.

Shadow ranger in fissure of woe have barrage. I've yet to have a group that survived long enough to explore the entire map, though, so no idea if there is a shadow ranger boss on the map to cap it from.

I've done quite a bit of the underworld map, including 3 of the quests within, but have spotted no bosses at all in that one.

I just cleared roughly the entire mission 4 or 5 times, and did a few parts of it more times. Either I'm really unlucky, or could really use some more info. I certianly havn't seen anyone with this skill yet, and am questioning if its even possible to capture at the moment. can you maybe point out where hes suppost to be, or is he this guy that roams around the entire top area.

Ok, I've been told by two different people that Ether prodigy could be gotten off the squid-like boss all the way NE of Mineral Springs. I've been there 4-5 times, even took a necro with malaise to try to drain its mana to force it to use it, but all the squid boss named ICE BEAST seems to have is MIST FORM :(

Yeah, there is a boss just like it in one of the ring of fire missions called the Eidolon, and all he had was Mist Form.

About the monk avicara boss, each boss assortment for the map is RANDOM. Yes, there will be a boss in a certain place, but it won't necessarily be the same boss every time. Sometimes, the one you want isn't even on the map. Just keep trying. I know he is there most of the time, cause I got the skill from him on my ranger/monk.

some tips for cpaturing skill at perdition rock

there are 3 really close boss spawn location near ember rock camp

when you first spawn at ember light head to the right and sneak by the hydras, run pass the flesh golems pass this small bend usually is where the cursed and phatoms boss are.

If you want one of the Skills from the Drakes (Elemental Attunement. tainted Flesh, Bull's Charge) run pass the hydra from ember and head due north there are 3 drakes right inside a small cave when the path goes up the mountain. One of the drakes is a boss most of the time you can continue up the path to find another drake boss but imo quicker and easier to just return to emebr and run north again

the last common boss location has rull browbeater and the hydra bosses
just run towards the ether seal sometimes the boss can be seen fighting the jade bows here if not run pass the seal and down the middle road you can see the boss on the other side of the lava pit.

dont search maps for bosses best way to do this is find a boss spawn point near an out post entrance and keep enterign and exiting the outpost till he appears

for bonettiti spawn at santarium and walk to the area south of grazden the protector check to see if hes there if hes not repeat till he does

also i heard rumors that the early bosses with elites might have been nerfed unconfirmed though

It seems that they changed the things a bit after the patch. For example, Gorgaan Hatemonger and Bonetti no longer use the warrior elite skill hundred blades. Probably it's a "fix" coz they are low level bosses and they shouldn't be using elite skills really...

You may have to revise the list...

Markis moves throughout the mission. That is the 'story', you're trying to catch this guy and lay some hurt on him, but he is always slipping away, usually behind a huge screen of mursaat and jades.

That said, he always ends up in one camp, and the best way I know to get to that camp is this: Pretend you're on an infuse run, see the seer, get the cutscene, then sneak out the back door of her cave. It'll go by a lake, then through a short tunnel. Coming out of that tunnel, you'll see a walled courtyard on your left, he is back in that courtyard. Matter of fact, he'll be out front, and you'll see him run inside when he sees you, the little chicken that he is.

You don't have to worry about cracking that nut, just run in and capture from him, he'll cast it pretty early.

Oh, and as for barrage, if you really want to have fun with it, take your longbow to Flame Temple Corridor.

Lol, they cluster close together, longbow gives you a free shot, two more and you watch 3 charr hit the ground at once. Priceless, hehehe. I was in there collecting hides. They may've fixed the 'fur' issue, but they don't seem to have done it by either upping the hide drop rate, or upping the high qual salvage rate of furs. I did notice that new fur won't stack with old fur, and has a much lower vendor value.

Has anyone else noticed since the last patch 2 days ago or so, that healing hands is no longer being used by two enemies listed by numerous people in this thread? I've tried now for 10+ hours and the bosses will use various monk healing spells, but never healing hands anymore -- had 1 fight go for 40 minutes (I healed him with area heal when he was close to dying) before giving up and re-zoning to get a "fresh" boss -- same deal, refuses to use healing hands.

Has anyone managed to get the skill recently?

The ranger boss who spawns in the exact same location sometimes is Kekona Pippip and his elite is Poison Arrow. The necro boss in the same spot is Allobo Dimdim and his elite is Plague Signet. I didn't write down the name of the monk boss, but his elite was Unyielding Aura. I came across all of them at least twice before getting the ele boss to spawn. All are grawl.

This is a superbly easy spot to get an elite skill though if any of those interest you. It's entirely possible to get all the way there from the town south without fighting anything until you get to the boss. Occasionally you have to fight one group of those bird guys, but they're plenty easy with henchmen. I also noted that on occasion, as you follow the path outlined in the screenshot, the ranger and/or necro grawl boss will appear about midway in a group of grawl on a rise alongside the path you follow, to the west, so make sure to at least scan that group as you run by.

Are you sure? Even normal Imps in that area have an elite skill... I haven't been able to find him myself, though, so I can't say if he has one, but I don't see why he wouldn't.

I found a ranger skill call Spirit of renew. when I go look up it on the skills listing on the guildwar guru I didn't see it there.

it was used by a boss mob call Tree of renewal in the end of d'alessio seaboard mission, a spirit that reduce all skill cost by 15, it was elite as well with a gold border. not sure if anyone saw it.

Did it have "Mosnter Only" attached to it ? I've seen skills like that before, kinda like Glints Hibernation skilll. Unattainable by we mere mortals ;(

I went with henchies and cleared out everything at that spawn point but the boss. Then I ran away and managed to get the henchies killed (Hydras) and went back and faced it alone (so the henchies wouln't kill it before I was ready). I cast spells until it blocked them, then used the Signet.

Key thing, of course, is that you have to have people in your party casting spells or it wont Block them..

remove matra of resolve from the Mesmer Elite list its not an elite in game and can be bought from an trainer at the grotto

if the ether prodigy guy is an breeze keeper than there is probabaly an 1 in 3 chance he shows up seems to be randomnly which breeze keeper shows up monk mesmer or ele. Havent seen ele myself so cant confirm

The Charr boss mentioned to have Hundred Blades DOES in fact have the skill; i can confirm this because I caught it for my own warrior. While I do not remember his name, I can give you a very good description of where he will spawn:

When you enter The Breach from Gate Gaurd Hollis's location (he's in Old Ascalon, NW of the area) Run down the first set of stairs until you get some friendly gaurds. Then, run NE to a bridge. The bridge should cross over the tar pit. The boss will be immediately in front of you. He used it multiple times for me, so I caught it rather easily (however, you need to be quick on the draw - he'll use other skills quickly after!). If you can't find him, re-enter the breach from the way you came.

there seems to be two sets of bosses the stone summit bosses which shares the elite skill set of the normal creatures and pinesol which have unique skills


the Ele is already listed under ward agaisnt harm but saw a ranger there and probabaly has one for every class

also in spearhead peak theres a warrior boss im guessing has some kind of stance

I too am looking very hard for that skill. I made it all the way to the zone before Mineral Springs, so I shall let you know soon. I would try going in and out of that zone until the boss closest to the zone enterance is a Monk. At least that's what I plan on doing. I'll let you know how it goes when I get time to play. Can anyone confirm Shield of Judgement?

Shield of Judgement definitely comes off of the monk boss mob in Mineral Springs. From what I could tell it only spawns 5/6 possible bosses for the map. I found all but the monk one on my first run. The second run he was the closest from the zone line.

Grenth's balance is also obtainable from the boss mob that you face when doing hero's challenge. I defenitely saw it and had it from him.

Also Virulence doesn't seem to come from the mosk rottail (sp?) in bloodstone fern. I've tried inflicting myself with a condition, ie. bleeding and he still did not use the skill.
