I made a ranger used for damaging, and i'd like to know if i can improve him.

11 expertise (9+2)
10 WS (9+1)
4 beastmastery (3+1)
15 markmanship (12+3)

melandru's arrows {e}
distracting shot
tiger's fury
pin down
plague touch
troll unguent
res signet
storm chaser

i usually target the ele's because of their enchantments, and especially use pin down to prey on them. plague touch is there for protection against warriors, and same with the pin down/storm chaser escape technique. i usually hit around 50-80 on eles, and 30-40 on warriors. anyway to get these numbers higher?

Ditch Troll Unguent for a more effective heal. That skill has "Disrupting Chop me!" written all over it.

the storm chaser/pin down usually saves me, but what do u suggest using?

Quickshot
kindle arrows
tigers fury
distracting shot

13 expertise
4 beastmastery
11-13 marksmanship
rest into wilderness

basic layout for highest dps on ranger i could find atm.
use the distracting shot as an extra spike, normal shot-> quickshot -> distracting shot -> quickshot -> normal shot -> quickshot

i'm very happy with this build right now.

Power Shot
Penetrating Shot
Read the Wind
Whirling Defense
Oath Shot
Troll Unguent
Healing Breeze
Resurrect Signet

15 into marks (12 +1 hat and +2 rune...i haven't unlocked a sup marks)
9 into Wilderness (8+1 rune)
9 into Expertise (7+2 rune) some people will complain about this lack of expertise...i find that for me, it's not completely necessary.
8 into Healing Prayers

with 15 into marks, i usually deal 35 damage on a 60 AL target. coupled with RtW, that's about 40-50 damage...(this is probably inaccurate, as i'm doing this off the top of my head)

use oath shot to recharge whirling defense instantly to keep yourself alive. healing breeze should give 6 regen, coupled with troll unguent, which gives 7 regen. total, it heals well enough for a monk or healer of some sort to give you proper healing. even though most of the time in comp arenas there are no monks to help you....

and that's pretty much it. i like it in the comp arenas, makes my character an efficient killer. most of the time, anyway.

Ok, ok. COMMUNITY SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Dual shot - Hunter's shot - Kindle arrows - Quickshot - Tiger's fury - whatever (as long as it's not bloody whirling defense or troll unguent or some crap)

Used in conjunction with a shortbow (5:1 vampiric string and a zealous string on seperate bows if possible). That there is a good solid damage dealing ranger build.
Now stop bringing power shot, point blank shot and flame trap into my team when you are supposed to be a damage ranger!

While i'm at it:

Savage shot - Distracting shot - Choking gas - Quickshot (with choking gas)/ Incendiary arrows - serpents quickness - Debilitating shot - *spirit* frozen soil if no one else is bringing - res sig.

That will shut down any caster and the debilitating shot really hurts warriors. USE THIS IF YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AN INTERRUPTER.

Now stop sucking and giving rangers a bad name (unless you are up against me in HoH)

check out the lmm's quickshot thread, it provides alot of helpful info with high dps ranger, in my opinion quickshot build has the highest dps, yes maybe ur ma build do around 80 dmg consistently every 1.33seconds, but the quikshot build bascially squeezes in an extra arrow after every normal arrow, which is like around 140 dmg under 2seconds depending wat variation of the build u have.
