Space is more like the action key: it will pick up a targetted item as well

C - picks closest enemy target
F - same as tab?

Without Alt... my world in Guild Wars would be a sad existence... lol, I almost always have it held down when I've moving, :P sucks when I try to Tab to an enemy though... (I set TAB to Target Closest Player cause it made more sense to me)

In towns, Alt is a life saver as well... I hear so many people asking where this NPC is or that NPC is and I always try to spread the good word of the Alt key.

I'm done now...

( Spam insert...Shout out to DATD! How ya doin? Long time no see.)
Anyway, as a W/Me, I was wanting to tap some life and mana befor runnin in for the fatal blow. I was wondering how you attack with spells from a distance without running up to your target?. I was having a heck of a time with that one.
In other games it is usually holding the shift key, what's it for GW?
Also, is there a weapon switch? (perhaps I am sounding stupid here, hope not.)

Terphin

Not sure about the distance use of spells...

But for switching weapons you can define them on the bottom left of the screen. And then to switch its..

F1
F2
F3
F4

Also some other ctrl + click ones

ctrl + click on health = displays how much health you have to the team
ctrl + click on energy = displays how much energy you have to the team
ctrl + click on a skill = tells team what skill you are using

F10 is logout isn't it ?

Also from something I can remember that I think F5 upwards can give you different graphic options... like put the graphics back to mesh or something like that... can someone confirm this for me ?

Holy dog biscuits! Mslynx! Hey!
When you attack with spells, your character attacks from the longest distance possible so don't worry, he/she shouldn't approach too near.

Thank you for your help, guys.

may also want to mention (ctrl?)+shift+f12 for dev mode

CTRL+Shift+LClick Call Target (select)

This means the names of enemies pop up so you can select them but when you select them it doesnt call the target right???

To call the target you have selected you then have to press CTRL+Space , correct me if im wrong.

Bgnome
Mar 01, 2005, 03:58 PM
the ctrl+click calls the target. the shift part just makes it so that you do not take an action, like attack or something. so if i held ctrl+shift+clicked a name of a mob, i would call it but stand there and not do anything else.

if you have a target mob selected, such as by using C, F, Tab, or shift+click, then you would call it and start attacking by hitting ctrl+space.

Shrapnel_Magnet
Mar 01, 2005, 04:17 PM
Personally, I just press "Ctrl (hold) + Spacebar" to call a targeted enemy... :P works a lot faster than Mr. Clicky... and yes, Holding ALT is missing from the list. It displays all the NPC's a few other things, why taking out the player names to clear up the clutter on screen.

Dah, just read that someone posted the Ctrl+Spacebar... lol, oops... but yeah it's a good key-combo.

Thank Heavens for that "/" command list; last BWE I spent my time just having to type random things in and seeing what happened. But I suppose curiousity is the source of some of this world's greatest inventions...

... If you didn't notice, I'm somewhat compensating for the fact that to most of the people here I'm still considered a nOOb. I try though, and that's all that counts :D

This may be obvious to some users, but I was a little excited to find out that the dev team made sure that SHIFT+TAB works, too. If you are cycling through enemies using TAB, you can cycle backwards by using SHIFT+TAB. Useful when you're hitting TAB so fast you skip past the creature you wanted...

Maybe I missed it , but is there a way to "attack nearest enemy" or "attack nearest enemy targeted by ally" or something like that? All I see are "target" or "call" commands. The reason I'm asking is that I found it difficult at times to attack enemies, especially in large groups because it would take me a few tries to actually target them in intense battle situations.

Necrotic
Mar 17, 2005, 07:01 AM
Yes Supernaut, you did miss it.....the C key will target nearest enemy and the F key will cycle through them.....personally I found F to work as well and was easier for me to hit while moving. Then just hit spacebar to start attacking. You could also just mouse-click on the target.....but as you know already it is sometimes difficult to target the one you want.

On a side note.....I noticed there is no mention of F5-F8 keys. Unless they have changed this completely since last BWE those keys will open your main backpack, belt pouch, bag one and bag two. Assuming of course that you have all of those to open in the first place.

I don't entirely know what the proper term is, but is there a function for recorded phrases? So you can tap ALT+1, ALT+2, ALT+3, etc., and have stock phrases like "Fire in the hole", "I need help", "I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too", and so on?

Great list.

Wish I had come across it earlier...

Doh! *slaps head*

I had a hell of a time targeting enemies when grouped. Also, the "T" action confused the hell out of me cuz I'd hit "T" after my ally called a target, but I wouldn't do anything. They should really clarify that.

Next time, I shall be prepared.

Nope, I added it to the suggestion's list... more on the lines of yelling Retreat! Heal me! More Enemies Coming! Watch Your Health!
But those would be nice too ;)

Heh. I should have said "user defined recorded phrases". I saw "watch your health" and the like appear as a sort of pop-up text (much like GwenSpeak) over other players and henchmen, but I'm thinking something that can appear in the chat window. Obviously this has great potential for abuse, but so does a lot of things. ^_^

I believe you mean "Watch Yourself". It's a skill which, when activated, makes this line appear above the person's head. However, if you CTRL+Click on your health, it's a clear indication that you want to be healed as well as if you click on a satus (ex: "Poisoned). I wouldn't mind those quick-phrases, though :).

After collecting the few comments from the other thread, and re-reading everything here I am ready to unleaseh version 0.3 on the GW community.

Just pressing R once, starts the auto run. Pressing it again stops or pressing any other directional key stops also.

Any Monks out there tired of using their mouse for selecting players?

I have a solution that worked great this last BWE. Since the number pad is not currently in use I used it and assigned it for my party members. So all I have to do now is press number pad #1 for the person on the top of the list or number pad #8 for the person on the bottom of the list. This cuts the time when selecting team mates which in turn keeps them from death.

Same as the other posts go to keyboard setting and scroll down until see party member 1 or group member 1 and assign it a number pad number and save each one.

Those are my guesses... If you type any of these characters at the beggining of a message (or even before starting one, while playing) it will select the respective message tab. The new trade chat is probably /t and I'm not sure but I *think* you could whisper with /w a few betas ago, but since the in-game prompt changed a little bit (instead of using a comma to separate nick from message there are now two text boxes) I'm not sure anymore...

I don't know how to do those either... I used to play (still do on occasion) Rune. In Rune it was easy to change key binds, and you could do it in game too...
