multiple posting and such

Guru has long been one of my favorite forums. Very organized.

But as you've grown, the organization sometimes seems a bit... hard core? For instance this quote in a thread I was looking through:

In the past three days I have seen several threads in this forum all on the same subject. Today there were 3 threads on this subject. I have merged them.

ALL of you need to make an effort to find and post in a thread already going on your subject before you make a new one.

I will be closing duplicate threads from now on.

I understand wanting to keep it organized (and small from server load perspective) but this seemed a bit... harsh...??? I don't always have time to search through the forums for stuff. And when I've done a search often times it was broken and puts you in google.

I posted a topic a while back and it just dissappeard. This is your forum. I think you should run it the way you want. I'm just giving my 2 cents. It just kind of feels like a community nerf. lol I don't think I have the time to post here anymore. If I miss a topic in my attempted search then, boom, no talking for me.

Just a note, for things like posting threads on the same or a similar topic to a thread already posted, you don't have to use the search function (as long as it was quite recent). You can just look through the first page of a forum, observing the thread titles, and if there is one that you think might discuss the topic you are thinking of, take a look at it.

There were 3 threads in Factions & Events this morning on exactly the same topic - something about the Head Start being one hour delayed. These may have just been posted at very near times, but if they hadn't, perhaps the creator of the third thread would have only had to look at the first one or two threads on the page to find exactly the same topic he/she is thinking of.

That was posted after I had just merged three threads on the same subject from the same front page. That was also not the only merged thread (for the same reason) that day. The other one had even more duplicate/similar threads that I found just browsing through the first few pages of that forum. I know the search feature has been up and down, so I specifically didn't mention it.

I'm sorry that you took it as being harsh, but sometimes a point has to be made in such a way that the forum-goers remember it.

If this is still a concern for you, I'm sure the Guru Admins would be able to answer any more questions you have.
