Trebon Drak

Wasn't sure if this goes under the Community discussion or Game suggestions. Its not really a game suggestion then it is a community suggestion.
I've just registered, peeked around and love the site.So far it looks more inviting then my previous registered site the vault for guildwars or VN board.
I posted a thread there called Our community needs to step up.I'd just give you the link but some thick heads decided to debate and argue about a totally voluntary suggestion to people who are interested.Basically trying to ruin the thread by posting nonsense and jibberish filled statements just to make everyone mad.
I was suggesting that we form a more tightly formed community. A community that offers help to new players and veterans alike. From posting that thread there I found a good number of people that I've got info from and hooked up with ingame.I'm also pitching this to my guild which has a decent amount of active members right now.So far on my guild forums, the ones that are responding so far are giving positive feedback.
Now I know what you're think and that is you have a community right here in the forums and each forum has its own community. This is true. The same goes for guilds. Each guild is its own community with forums and helpful members and so on. What I'm trying to do is merge all that together.I can't do it by myself and need people's help that want to be involved. We can do give aways for unwanted items, possibly auctions, list times that escorts or people willing to do select missions to meet at certain cities. If you have enough people then each city can have some of our community members sitting there for a little while waiting for someone that needs people for missions/quests. There are so many things we can do and do as a whole.
Right now the game is pretty shallow ingame unless you have a tight guild.I am fortunate enough to have this but not everyone does. People are also getting wary of recruiting just any member anymore due to the immature actings of certain individuals such as scams, ruining a guilds rating, bad mouthing people in public.
I've gotten quite a few replies from people that say they are already helping others in game but most of us have no idea they are.So as a community we can post on these boards to thank them personally and let others know who are the good guys of guildwars. If we are all out there and start becoming known by name then when people need help they don't have to go looking for a random person and pray that they aren't one of those rude types. If I help people I tell them to add me to their friends list and if they need anything and I'm on just give me a whisper. That list can become huge quickly if we get our name out there. Also if other people have suggestions for community gatherings ingame such as dance offs or maybe a parade or something like that then they know where to contact us on forums like this or by contacting us in game. I also have a 50 person TS that a guy from VN said we could use as a meet place for us for this cause.
I originally got this idea from posts I've read in other forums that bothered me. The posts were the "i'm leaving guild wars and here is why" type.I'm always curious why people leave the games I'm playing at the time. Now from a good portion of them they all liked the game mechanics and the engine. They all liked the pve in some ways. Some wanted it longer or have this or that but overall it was good. And they also like the PVP and GVG.So why were they leaving?? Lack of community, rude people to play with, hard to get a public group, shallow players.Nothing but kill loot pvp kill loot pvp.I know thats the basis of the game but we can still add more with some help from everyone interested. I mean the main thing is rude people and lack of a community feel.If we have players out there having fun in the cities, knowing there is a group(and hopefully a good sized one too) that can offer help when they need it then it would for me ,and I know from the people I talk to them too, it would make the game a much more fun experience. Instead of having to go to an MMO to get a feel for a community(which is hard unless you've been playing awhile or know someone already), we could just do it right here.
At the moment we don't have much to work with ingame. We can't join guilds together to form alliances(which I would do but it wouldn't mean that they can't compete against each other in PVP or GVG.They would be able to definately). We could form alliances outside the game and thats would I would like to do.Join guilds and non guild players together to form a true community. Only people dedicated to the cause though as we don't want any hate mongers joining just to ruin everyone's experience. We can atleast come up with ideas and share them on these boards for now and eventually make a site just for this cause and have people peek in to see whats going on in guildwars that day or that week, month.
If we form a tight community then ANET may take a look at this and help us out if we are dedicated towards it. So far they have listened to the players, more then any other online game I've played and quicker too. So i think that there is enough people involved then they would start adding game content to help us out and make it more enjoyable .Maybe add fireworks displays for people to sit and chill inbetween battles at certain cities during special events hosted by our organization. I mean the possibilties are endless and they would be if we had ANET on our side. I enjoy helping people because it leads to them helping the next guy. Helping people in this game is only going to have them stay and play and do the same when it's their time. Also they will tell others how nice people are on guildwars ,especially this group(us).Others will be curious and buy the game to see what all the hubbub is about.
I know you can go out of your way to help someone only to have them screw you over or not even give a thank you. These people will be quickly identified by our members as outcasts to our society if needed.I'm willing to give people chances as I have faith in humanity. But if its a constant troublesome player interfering with our members and/or projects then we will take action within the rules.
So I'd like to hear what you all think on here and thank you ahead of time for reading my long post.
PS: If you wish to contact me ingame and need anything or just want to chat, feel free to.
Trebon Drak is my main PVE character I'm still working on.
