Well I hate running around finding information all over the place, so I decided to throw together a database of GW information. It currently includes the Guild Wars Map Project (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4684), the Elite Skills Listing (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6755) along with all skills and Pet Locations (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11494). Skills and Pets are searchable and they show where you can find them on the map and who you need to deal with to get them.

You can find the program at Guild Wars Arcane Install (http://www.cameroncole.com/download/gwarcane.zip)

and report problems, suggestions, comments, etc at Guild Wars Arcane Forum (http://forums.cameroncole.com/index.php?showforum=19)

I hope to include collectors and few checklists in an upcoming version of the program.

Thank You!

Finally the basis for a unified database! No more traveling to 3+ forums and 2+ wiki sites to find the information.

Excellent Use of XML. Based on the structure of the XML I am assuming you exported it out of a database (MySQL?).

If you would like any help translating Collectors, Crafters, Armor, etc. Please let me know.

Also, are you going to have a "features under development" section of the readme? Because I see a number of ways this app could be improved (i.e. cross-referencing the skills listing with where to find the skills)

Thank you again

Glad you like it. The XML is the native format that loads/saves from Delphi memory tables. I figured some people would want to see a raw dump of the data rather than some internal format.

I will be adding in collectors, crafters and armor soon. That said once I write the mechanism for adding them into the database if you want to help me build the data files, that would be great. Takes longer to input the data than to write the code to do so.

It already cross references skill and areas. If you search on a skill in the main window, it will tell you all the areas you can find the skill. If you use the drop down at the top to select an area, it will tell you all the skills in that area.

I wish the entire GW community could come up with some nice XML templates, so that information on Skills, Quests, Collectors, Weapons, etc. could be shared seamlessly through the entire fanbase.

What would be really quite amazing, IMHO, would be if you could overlay information on the map. Then you could put markers for each Collector, Quest Giving NPC, etc. AND you could lay the "red dot trail" for quests and missions. That would make this a killer app!

All You need to let me know is the format (even if you can import CSV) and I'll start compiling the data.

What I was thinking of is when you bring up the "View Skills" window (F2) If you could add a column for "where to find the skill" or add a properties menu that had "list skill locations" which would pop-up another dialog that lists the locations to aquire the skill. Or in the properties menu have a "jump to skill location" which brings you back to the map, with a focus on the location of the skill.

Thank you again

The skills window is going to become non-modal allowing you to work on the map and the skill window at the same time. When you click on a skill, it will automatically do the skill search. Also, users will be able to edit the location of skills from that window as well.

I have a quasi-working version with dots for collectors and pets and the next version will include this. The other feature going in is light character builder that allows users to save off their characters and allow users to show missing skills and where to find them.

what would be REALLY cool, is if it had a self updating feature. so every time you add a new bit of information, it could automatically download it.

Increidibly useful Thank You!

I love the way it filters / orders everything!

Some suggestions/quasi-bugs I found (sorry, cant help with anything else...)

a) The skill list shows the primary attribute of the secondary class:

Example: I choose Ele/Me (thats what my char is) and Fast Casting's Mantra of Recovery shows in the list, which is a primary class mesmer attribute. I know it can be tricky, but maybe instead of clearing it from the list you could put it at the beginning of the Description box:

"Only primary class attribute" Spells you cast recharge 50% faster etc...

It sounds picky, but a lot of newbies (like me) are going to see elite in the list and try to get it from the boss that has it.

b) This one is *almost*stupid :p: please change the font color in the RChg to white/yellow, don't know if its my monitor but I can hardly see the numbers. Ty!

Overall a magnific job. Let us know if you need help with anything, I will be glad to help. Thanks again!

Im working on ONE BIG TABLE that contains all skills to cross compare all of them.

I basically combined:

all quests with skill reward (http://cleaned.beyondunreal.com/temp/GuildWars/GW_SkillRewardQuests.htm)
Skill Trainers (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/skill-trainers-id238.php)
Skill listings (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/skill.php)
Elite Skills locations (http://www.xennon.co.uk/eliteskills/)
and sorted the info in a single table.

First steps done for the warrior only, still a ton of typos and errors in it I bet!

heres the html and excel version:
work in progress...
