This faction will go away after the weekend right? And is the Balthazar's Faction going to stay in the "Faction" category until release instead of on the first Hero screen?

I think Gaile said that any faction earned will remain.

I suppose this would be the appropriate place to ask my question. When the FPE first started, I joined the Luxons and one of my guildmates got us +10 standing, so we were at 20. We are now at 16, but nobody will take the blame (and when we went from 18 to 16, I was the only one on, and playing a Prophecies char). Since I haven't read anything about it happening, does anybody know how you lose alliance standing?

It degenerates due to not being changed I think.

I would prefer it reset... otherwise while we are just playing around our faction choice will have been made for us.

i'm pretty sure the guild standing will be reset... while our personal factoin (balth, lux & kur) will stay

I would prefer it would remain if they institute a neutral party. That way you could learn more about each group before being locked in one particular. There is going to have to be a way of maintaning a better balance between factions without one being too lopsided. How about instituting a "spy" where you can spy on a Faction then switch back and all the faction you earned there goes to the one you are spying for.

I think it only degenerates when someone cashes in Faction for the other side.

That's what I thought at first as well, but like I said, the second degeneration occurred when I was the only person in my guild on, and playing a Prophecies character (unless we had a Kurzick spy set to Offline).
Responses to other posts...
If it does degenerate due to not being changed, it has to be a bit more complicated as the times between the changes weren't the same.
As far as one side being lopsided, I read the Alliance Battles are biased in favor of the losing side (unless that's not what the poster was talking about).

So far a lot of these things are pretty unclear. I'll probably just wait for official info on it.

I think it works the same way as rank, as more guild leaders pay for faction and loyalty the alliance favours some guilds over another, not too sure - this is my first guess.

There might be other threads on this one, but this one seems to fit what I'm curious about. I couldn't find an answer offhand about it, although I'm sure it's around somewhere.
How is this going to work with the factions when this is released? For example, I've been playing the FPE and one character headed for the Kurzicks and one for the Luxons. One day everything is cool with the Kurzicks, then my other char goes to check out the Luxons, and next thing I know, the Kurzicks hate the character that never did anything to help the Luxons. Now, I understand this is because it's account wide, what side you're on.
However, how are we supposed to experience the whole game?
Do we play all the way through one then try the other? If you go this way, you'll have a ton of points for one, and you'll never catch up with the other.
Can we keep kind of on a middle line between the two, do a couple of quests to tip the balance, and still be able to talk to merchants and buy things?
How far does the difference between the two have to be before you're considered on one side or the other in terms of merchants' reactions to you?

There are repeatable quests outside of towns that you can do over and over again. I'm also guessing this is why there 's a 10k faction cap. If you want to switch over to the other faction, just use up all your faction, then go get faction for the other side.

I played a bit more in the FPE and found out how that works; spending it worked really well to level the field, and gave me some spiffy amber in the process. ;)
