I just did a check, and almost 30,000 members have never posted here before. I'm not sure, but the only thing having an account gives you is the right to post and have an avatar and things like that. You can still read as a guest.

The current insane server load is only going to increase as Faction's nears, and if the server gets a bit chunky now, just wonder what will happen later?

Maybe its time to purge like 10,000 accounts that are incredibly inactive and have 0 posts.

he makes a point. let it clear up some space and such, and get rid of all those useless accounts

We're not in need of space.

It gives you the right to search too, which is crucial and one of the reasons why I signed up in the first place. (The other was to get a PC, which I never did get, damn you people.)

Is the server problem still due to the attacks?

As far as I've seen the servers have been running well for us now. If you're having problems with them, though, please let us know.

They have been working better the last few days, but I have been receiving some "unable to connect" webpages Today (auction site).

Also, some Forum "Searching has been disabled" messages, which I will assume is a function of server capacity and current users.

I've had several instances where the site (the entire www.guildwarsguru.com) is not reachable. This has happened on two different ISPs for me, so I'm guessing you guys are having some DNS issues from time to time or perhaps your web server is crashing. In any case, hope you find the problem.

Oh, and while I'm here, don't waste your time making the site work on IE7. A browser that is not standards-compliant isn't worth wasting your time on...

There are plenty of reasons for people to register and not post, some people have their guild forums here, people need an account to (as has been said) search, people need a forum account for GuildWarsGuru contests, etc. We've no requirement that says "You must post".

Just a suggestion.

Also I didn't know you had to have an account to search.

But maybe not the people that don't post... but how about the people that are just inactive? There are probably some people that haven't even logged on since October of last year.

purging accounts wont make things faster.

I fully support people that don't post themselves, and only search for information. Someone that doesn't post if he thinks it doesn't contribute in anyway is ok in my book.

just my 2 cents,

Why is search down so much anyways? And it always seems to be broken when i want to bump my posts and cant be bothered to go back loads of pages to find it.

If you're having problems with them, though, please let us know.Last week, almost every night the site would be down for two to four hours. Right around 2 AM mountain time, a couple times down until I got home from work 5 hours later.

search isnt broken, it just gets disabled when load is high, if lots of people use search when load is high, the server will just crash.
