Can we please add this to the list of useless pet skills? It would be wonderful if they replaced the health regeneration with a reduction in damage reditected to you.
On a side note. If they made the damage physical that would be great.

Not completely useless. Synergizes very well with [[Otyugh's Cry], as the sharing of damage happens after the armor level of the pet is computed (but before reduction by [[Call of Protection]). The more armor the Pet has, the less damage is transferred to you; Call of Protection will not reduce damage before redirection occurs.
As of now, the redirected damage is untyped. Don't understand why it needs to be physical. Combine with casting [[Balthazar's Spirit] on yourself to gain Energy whenever your pet takes damage. This will also stack with [[Life Bond] cast on your pet, resulting in gaining 2 energy whenever your pet takes damage.
Also, beware, since it is a shout, you cannot end it prematurely if you are taking too much damage.
Shamelessly lifted off Wiki.

why physical? if you're a ranger you want elemental...100AL against elemental damage.

One of the key skills for helping people get Dire pets, and if you want your pet to tank for you it's invaluable.

My point was that its almost useless for having your pet tank against high end content and the skill cost is pretty high as well. [charm animal] +[comfort animal] + [symbiotic bond] + [life bond] (and this last one right here is why this sucks!) + [Troll Unguent] is 5 skills. Add [Balthazar's spirit] for e management and your left with 2 kill slots! if they added a damage reduction like life bond you could swap [Troll Unguent] with [never rampage alone] and cover enough healing to keep you alive and still get a useful IAS.
And elemental damage would be a lot better.

Joker, I'm pretty sure you mean [Balthazar's Spirit], not [Balthazar's Aura]. Spirit returns energy when you take damage, Aura is an Enchantment that deals AoE damage around whatever is enchanted.
Also, adding to the discussion on Physical vs. Elemental, if Symbiotic were changed to deal either type, [Essence Bond] could be used to regain energy as well. :ninja:

Why use [Essence Bond] when you can use [storm chaser].

I only suggested [Essence Bond] because [Balthazar's Spirit] had already been brought up as a possibility. Neither one needs any attribute investment to return energy, so you aren't wasting points. [Storm Chaser], on the other hand, would take an investment in WS not only for energy gained, but to obtain any kind of useful duration as well.

True, but since the only character I play is my ranger and I run a lot of builds that depend heavily on WS I forgot that others might want a no attribute investment energy management.
