Barrage question

Hello everybody,
I am trying to create a Barrage build and I have a doubt about rate of fire with different bows:

if Barrage recharge time is 1 second and I activate it every time as soon as it recharges..does the rate of fire from the bow I am using matters? I haven't had time to test this with dummies but in the past I've read that rate of fire for a weapon is based on the "normal" (=space bar, or double click) attack, and it's a completely different matter if you're activating skills or spells.

attack speed doesnt matter with barrage, but arc does, in other words, dont use a flat bow unless you have Favorable Winds, Recurve, Horn, and Shorbows work nicely though

Bow speed does matter, as Barrage has no listed activation time.

Use recurve bow. The attack time is 1 attk / 1 sec which means you can make EVERY single attack of yours a Barrage. Only works with recurve bows.

That is false. See the post above yours. Someone did a test of all the bow types here with total number of Barrages/minute. The results paralleled refire rates of all the different bow types. So a recurve is second best in # of Barrages/minute. You can repeat the test yourself.

No, the test was posted here on Guru (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=136832) by one of the mods. I think you missed the bit where you can repeat the test results yourself. The reason I referred to that particular post was because it explains that attack skills without an activation time use the weapon's attack rate. Knowing this, it follows that weapons with a faster attack rate will activate Barrage more quickly, resulting in more Barrages/minute. Since recurve class bows are second best at attack rate, they are not the bow you would choose if you want to spam as many Barrages as possible. Flatbows and shortbows would be the fastest. I hope that sufficiently explains my response.

which I obviously missed before starting this one. Sorry about that! It really contains a lot of information..seems like there is still a "dark zone" of doubt and personal/situational matters, which is what a RPG has to be good about to avoid "maths playing".

Regardless, there's a lot of good testing that definitely makes it a lot easier to understand.
