The system is basically as follows: Moderators can apply infractions for posts, giving any number of 'points' which expire in a chosen timeframe. There are default options (Flaming, etc) and an option for a custom infraction. From there, if the user's total points cross certain boundaries, they are automatically banned for a period of time (5 points is 1 day, etc).
I asked Inde to write up a FAQ on the system but I was told it wasn't necessary, so there you go. More points -> ban.
However, supermoderators still have the ability to custom ban through the same methods as before.

Only in Sell forums Gabranth99, where we have a zero tolerance policy out of necessity.

5 points is 1 day
I would like to see a chart that shows how many points equal a certain ban length. Also how is it decided how many points are given for each infraction? I have 1 infraction but it was apparently worth 3 points. So it seems like you get 2 infractions you get banned for a day, seems a bit harsh imo since I think most of the infractions can be viewed different ways.

You're not going to see a chart pwnd, because bans are subjective in every forum but sell. As has been policy for years now, you are banned the first time you have a violation in our Sell forums. In other forums, it is based on any number of factors taking into consideration user notes, posting history, the offense, and so forth.

Well I will never post in High end again thanks to a ban that I did not fully understand cause I did not know what i was doing.
After I posed I went to read the "how to post" there and thought.. OH NO!! and posted again..instead of modifying the original post.
Poof.. Banned.
THAT SAID I must say that my ban was reduced for cause of stupidity in my case. So even if you do get a ban you can ask for it to be reviewed. After all this is a community site and honest people make stupid mistakes..
So my advice is ALWAYS read the MODERATORS words of advice at the TOP of the thread category as it describes what is required of us as users.
