Heya,
I was wondering what fourth weapon set you would use for a Mel Ranger with [[Flesh of my Flesh] in GvG ...

Currently:
1. Poisonous Recurve
~ obvious ~

2. Crippling Longbow
~ Would usually go Vamp Flat for NPC hunting but don't have Trolls and hate the degen on splits even when swapping ... can come in handy for a 'lucky' Melandrus ~

3. Shield set
~ Crippling for burning Isle and NPC pin downs atm ~

4. ???

I was thinking off bringing a Restoration Magic Staff with the following stats, just to make sure I get the flesh of in time and get a +30 when swapping back to bows:
o 20% HSR
o 20% HCT
o 20% HCT
o +5 Armor

What would you pick? 40/40 Resto ? Different Staff ?

Why not also have a good Sundering Hornbow of Fortitude for the extra armor penetration...a real damage dealer, I think.

Why a staff on a ranger? Dpact > flesh imo. Take a res sig and give your other midline a hard res.

You should have a vamp recurve, vamp flat, poisonous recurve and a crippling longbow.

Just have your 3 main weapon sets as vamp recurve, crippling long and poisonous recurve. On your 4th set put in a shield set. When you are ganking npcs just go into your inventory and equip your flatbow.

Vamp recurve? ummm... no.

1) Poisonous 15^50 Recurve Bow (For spreading poison at stand. Be in this bow set for 90% of the match)
2) Crippling 15^50 Recurve Bow (Increased cripple for Mel shot)
3) Vampiric 15^50 Flat Bow (For killing ritualist spirits and ganking NPC's)
4) +30 HP +5e Spear and both a +30HP -20% Cripple Duration Sheild (for Burning Isle), and a +30HP +10 armor vs Slashing Shield (When you are running for your RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing life).

100% agreed
These weapon sets are the bread and butter of an effective ranger. Minus the extra shield sets, but those two are the most important.

Heya,
Thanks for the replies!
Well that is what I was running before. So it seems like you guys would just Flesh on your bow set right?
So the extra energy or the fast cast just for a flesh once or twice (hopefully none) in one match just isn't worth a permanent slot in your opinion?
If I get it right you prefer a Crip recurve over it.

To Bowstring Badass: In which situation would I benefit from a vamp recurve?
I could think of none.
To Enolena Sedai: The only bars I would consider running a Hornbow on would be {GvG} BA or {HA} Ranger spike, with a vamp for both. I don't see the benefit for a [GvG] Mel Ranger.

Does it have to be a spear? I see people mentioning spear often but what makes it better than the other weapons?

The Spear is still a Ranged weapon, just like the bow. So you can still Apply Posion at range with the spear tabbing between targets.
