Are APNG's allowed?

Freaken awesome, animated PNG files, that support Million Colors, unlike the 253 color .gif.

So far from what I heard, Firefox 3 and Opera support this filetype, otherwise this won't make any sense.

Well, I'd say if it works in your avy, then it works other places as well.

Yeah, .gifs from what I'm heard are not allowed, maybe for seizure inducing reasons.

I just want to get get banned for trying it out : D

If gifs were not allowed I'm sure it would either have been impossible for me to link to my current avatar or someone would have told me to remove it.

Of course, this could be an exception extended to Staff Members alone so I have contacted Inde and asked her to respond on the matter.

Do not worry about your avatar for the time being.

My two cents...

I'd guess "no."

If the-powers-that-be say "yes," within a few days everyone on Guru will have an animated avatar and the site will look like Times Square having a power surge.

Animated avatars are discouraged, but as long as they are not too distracting and as long as only a few users have them, they will be tolerated.
If, at some point they begin to dominate the site and become a major distraction, this policy might change.

Animated Signatures are not allowed.
