Id prefer something that is not BHA or BA w/apply poison please. Maybe something with Poison Arrow or Poison Tip Signet. (I have all three campaigns and EotN). Thanks!

[poison arrow][distracting shot][savage shot][barbed arrows][toxicity][mending touch][troll unguent][resurrection signet]
maybe? I think I ran that for a while when NF just came out.

Keekles posted a solid build, and you said you would prefer a build that doesn't use BA, but I would still suggest [Burning Arrow]+[Barbed Arrows]+[Poison Tip Signet]. It's what my friend runs and he finds it both fun and effective.

Barrage/Volley w/ AP? Anything with epidemic?

[Apply Poison] is THE best way to inflict poison. Why would you not want to use it?

[Barrage] and [Volley] would remove [Apply Poison].

I know you asked for poison - It seems you want to do good degen- The Degen build I used had [[poison tip signet], [[burning arrow], and [[screaming shot]. Put those 3 conditions on an enemy and use [[epidemic].

[apply poison] [cyclone axe]<---since you don't want to use the two best ranger elites.

[Fevered Dreams] + [Poison Tip Signet] + [Savage Shot] or [Distracting Shot]
Yea... I suck as a ranger.

i dont believe cripshot was mentioned anywhere in the thread. :P he said he didnt wanna use apply poison. i dont see why tho, its amazing at, well, applying poison. if i wanted to spread poison id use a standard cripshot bar.

I think he just means [apply poison] with [burning arrow] . And touche on the [crippling shot], I almost never use it in PvE, and that is were my mind generally is.

[Poison Arrow][Distracting Shot][Troll Unguent][Savage Shot][Choking Gas][Screaming Shot][Toxicity][Resurrection Chant]
I use this build (Toxicity replaced with Dryder's Defense most of the time) when I really want to poison, but Poison Arrow is far superior to any of the non-elite poison skills, especially apply poison since it takes too long to activate it. With this build I can degen AND interrupt.

LIES! poison arrow is linked to wildy survival, and does no +damage. Apply poison is also linked to wilderness survival, but it takes advantage of experteise, and allows you to spread poison on attack very quickly, along with another elite condition skill. pre-cast it before the battle.
poison arrow is solid, but BA and BHA are out of it's league.

[[Apply poison] is so far ahead of[[poison arrow] its not even funny. You would definatly be crippling yourself using it. Its not gonna any better to apply poison than to use [[apply poison].
The 24 seconds of [[apply poison] allows for about 24 shots, costing 15 energy. Those same 24 shots using [[poison arrow] would cost somewhere around 125. (I hate math) <------note:expertise was not taken into effect, but the ratio is the same.
also [[choking gas] is terrabad.

Nope...
Rangers shoot once every TWO seconds... not ONE (that would be awesome though)
so 12 shots for 15e vs. 12 shots for 60e...

thanks for correcting me, i never got all the actual attack times down, but the point remains valid.

[magebane shot] is awesome.
[poison arrow] = failure. You can try running this with [barbed arrows] for 7 degen but this is pointless especially since BA and apply does 11 degen.
You can also try the R/P battle spear, R/W thumper, or R/D escape scythe spammer as a departure from the bow department side of ranger.

If you feel like seeing some numbers,
[sloth hunter's shot][zojun's shot][point blank shot][triple shot][glass arrows][conjure frost][troll unguent][resurrection signet]
I would use BHA, still...
Edit: Oops, miss the 'poison' in the title somehow. Sorry.

1. Keekles posted a build with Poison Arrow which ia lacking when compared to other elites.
2. Burning + Bleeding + Poison = 14 pips of health degeneration. Given health degen is capped at 10, you're wasting a slot right there. Personally I'd get rid of [[Barbed Arrows] in favour of something more useful like [[Read the Wind] or [[Expert Focus].

Right there. Apply Poison instantly makes a Ranger build better.

The 14 pips is to counter mending, DUH!
Poison Arrow is like Incindeary Arrows, Man those two skills look good, and SHOULD be good, but there are just flat out, hands down better options.
I look at em and say "Man, If I could just......." but I can't, so I don't.

The way to a ranger's heart is through condition spreading. However, I have a particular build preference at this point.
Sloth Hunter's ShotConcussion ShotSavage ShotPrepared ShotApply Poison
These stay on my bar throughout most of my current PvE and PvP play unless requested otherwise. Your last 3 skills can be changed depending on where you go and what your purpose is.
Now, some may prefer distracting shot, but in PvE monsters cheat. Skills recharge faster than they should even after distracted, so killing is better than pure interuptions, imo.
BHA gets alot of love, but Concussion in the right build, is the truth! Prep shot makes that 'right' build possible.

Just realized this poor guy is using choking gas on his bar without Practiced Stance. Poison Arrow is a great skill, but it was never employed well without Ignite Arrows. Apply is of better use by far, yet poison tip signet gives less need to WS investment with a trade off in speed of spreading the condition.
Poison arrow may feel like on demand condition spreading, yet, look at the tradeoff you take in damage dealing potential? Yet, if that's what you want to use, by all means, do so.

i have generally used a common [Burning Arrow] degen build with [Apply Poison], however if in a party with SF nukers, burning arrow is kind of pointless. i would go with some combo of [Poison Arrow]+[Barbed Arrows] for poison and bleeding on top of the burning caused by your nukers if you dont want to use [Apply Poison]. although [Apply Poison]+[Screaming Shot] frees up your elite slot.

R/Rt builds depend on the purpose of the build. Damage? Then Barrage/Splinter Weapon in factions is king. Yet, for anything else other than a hard res, you can stick to all ranger skills. The ranger is very self sufficeint unless you make it your business to not stay in the ranger skill class.
Just my opinion.
