Hello everyone, I'm brand new to guild wars and was wondering if anyone could recommend a beastmaster build that only uses prophecies skills. Thanks a lot.

[[call of protection] [[symbiotic bond] [[Ferocious Strike] [[disrupting lunge] [[Troll Unguent] [[distracting shot] [[comfort animal] [[charm animal]

i dunno, you could swap out some stuff for [[lighting reflexes] or something from your secondary.

dont use beast mastery, it sucks alot. its effective in like 2-3 areas and thats all. its not like the beast mastry or whatever its called line in WoW for the druid. If u want a pet on your ranger, just tkae the pet, and put no points in your beast mastery.

the more points in your Beast Mastery, the more damage your pet does, so having 0 means that the pet's literally a meat shield

but don't use pet, it's a waste of slots

Boy, there's a lot of hate for the beastmasters huh? I guess it's not a good idea to start them game as one then. Thanks for the replies.

pets in gw ARE fun, and they are capable of doing some good damage
They flap, or growl , or squeek, but they are mostly for fun and additional dmg.
that being said, I almost always have my pet with me on my builds.

Pets aren't useless, its just that they are never in the list of 100% efficient and powerful builds. Its perfectly fine to start the game as one, just be prepared to either switch up builds a bit much later in the harder areas or to fight at a relative disadvantage compared to a normal party. Its still certainly possible to beat the main storyline in all campaigns with a beastmaster.

Prophicies only isn't so good.

BM skills and PvE only skills from the expansions make for VERY formitable BM builds. You'll need those to truly dominate.

Pets can do amazing dmg with the right build and are not useless in any way, it's just with a BM builds it's got to be basically "All or Nothing" in the BM line to make it worth while, between BM, and Expertise it's hard to find enough left over points to crank up another attribute, like my Hammer is normally just at 10.

Actually it's not a bad idea to start out the game as a beastmaster. Early game you only have a 2 man party, then a 4 man, then 6. An extra ally to either do damage or be a meat shield has helped me out through the early stage till you start getting elites and more skills.

I'm pretty sure every mission in prophecies can be done just fine with a beast master(I know because I did, R/Mo beast smiter), and in some areas it's the prefered tactic. Basically you use the pet command window to send your pet up front, take agro and be a meat shield, you hang back and barrage or snipe from afar. 3-5 of these guys can clear most of the elite missions fairly quickly.

Using Ferocious Strike you can make what used to be an early version of a 'bunny thumper'(a Ranger/Warrior with a hammer instead of a bow, they kind of hop when they swing it). Basically, you get yourself Hammer Bash, Crushing Blow and Irresistible Blow or a pet attack, Ferocious Strike, Tigers Fury to boost your attack speed, the Charm Animal and Comfort Animal and a res or pet attack. Ferocious will charge your hammer attack and give you energy, you'll be using the hammer attacks at less energy then normal, with the right insignias your armor is comparable to a warrior's.

With the expansions beast master does get much, much better though, as said the pve skills and elites give you boosted attack speed and movement, heal you and your pet better then comfort, there's a pet attack that does 100+ damage, and the skills that synergize with it(enraged lunge does about +20 damage for each recharging BM skill, Marauder's shot does decent damage and disables all non attack skills, including charm, comfort and any long lasting pet buff). Also, new Secondaries like R/P for a 'packhunter' of sorts(ranger with a pet and a spear)

Really? because I thought that I could clear out just about any area in HM with minimal deaths and difficulty. Oh wait... I can.

Think spike. I'm not giving out my builds though.

I love beast mastery. I'm pretty disapointed in all of you. It doesn't need to be effective to be fun. If I can clear normal mode FoW using my pet, then you can run through prophecies with one. Dune Lizards ftw by the way.

[[call of protection] [[symbiotic bond] [[Ferocious Strike] [[disrupting lunge] [[Troll Unguent] [[distracting shot] [[comfort animal] [[charm animal]

That, imo, but with Call of Haste instead of Troll Unguent.

But yea, Prophecies kinda sucks for Beast Mastery - since you want Enraged Lunge if you want to do it properly anyway.

the guy is specifically asking for a beastmaster build and half the people just reply "don't use BM it sucks". way to be helpful! i've farmed bosses using a beastmaster build, so it's not totally useless.
i use something to the effect of: symbiotic bond, call of protection, enraged lunge, poisonous bite, scavenger strike, troll unguent, and whatever else.

Ok, first let me say YES, I DID USE SEARCH.

What exactly is 'boss farming'?
Killing the same boss over and over so he drops his unique item.
