A friend of mine came up with this idea, it's not that original but you know, it works.
So if you wanted to farm the uw with your ranger, but you think trapping is boring, this may interest you ;)
Here is the build:
R/E:
Storm ChaserStone StrikerStoneflesh AuraSandstormGlyph of ConcentrationEarthquakeAftershock
Optionnal Slot:
Troll ungent
Edge of extinction (in this case, drop WS by 1, put the points in beast mastery, and get a minor rune)
Wilderness: 12+1+3
Earth: 12
Any +20%enchant weapon, that's all you need, all other mods are up to you.
An earth staff is best, since you can wand dying nightmares to death and have a 20% enchant on it.
You recognize the build? Yeah the Ele farming one. Well there is not much difference. You have more armor, get +5 energy on each hit (granted you remember to maintain storm chaser), that's it.
The last skill was troll ungent during our tests, but you don't need it as long as stoneflesh aura is up. The kill chain is fast enough so you don't have to recast it normally.
I don't know if it's faster than the ele one or warriors, or whatever. This is mainly for the people who want to farm ectos with their rangers.
Some useful infos:
- Keep Stoneflesh aura up at all time when fighting. You won't last long without it.
- The kill chain is Sandstorm, Earthquake, Aftershock.
You could use skills like Dust trap before you agro so you blind foes, but I'm not sure it wouldn't cause scatter...
- You don't use expertise (which doesn't apply on spells anyway), your energy management is Storm Chaser combined with Stone Striker. Remember to keep them up.
- You don't fight Aatxes. Only Grasping Darknesses, and Smite crawlers. During our tests we skiped the Coldfire Nights, therefore I can't tell you if you can survive them. Troll ungent may be usefull in this case. I don't know. If you happen to try, please leave your experience.
- If a dying nightmare pops up, wand it to death.
- Use your glyph before aggroing graspings, to avoid interruptions.
- If you go with EoE, in the first chamber, place your spirit behind Benton and aggro the group on the left first. Then move on the 2 groups on the right and place your spirit by the left stairs.

It seems that The.D0pefish had the same idea before my friend, and he posted that in another thread. there is some useful notes in the following discution, so have a look.
- Have fun!
