Previously, I used as much fire magic as possible and focused my attributes in that and energy storage. the problem was, i didn't even use half the fire skills that i set on my bar, and i would die very easily. So I decided to try this instead..
Fire/Earth/lllusion/Energy Storage

Lava Font
Ward Against Melee
Spirit of Failure
Stone Daggers
Armor of Earth
*Signet of Capture
Aura of Restoration
Ether Feast

The basic idea was to make my old elementalist into more of a tank so I wouldn't die as much. Armor of Earth reduces th physical damage I take by more than 50%! Ward Against MElee is also outstanding for preventing damage, and I Felt that it worked well with Spirit of Failure since it would make it far more likely to activate and give me energy. The extrA armor and evasion will seriously reduce the damage I take, while Aura of Restoration and Ether Feast will help me recover (can't keep myself alive forever, evne with good damage prevention :)
That leavs Lava Font. Obviously, this biuld encourages me to tank, so Lava Font is good to through into the mix as a low recharge AoE that is nly effective when enemies are close to me (usually attacking me). Stone Daggers aws added becaue I wanted more then just one damage spell and I thought it would be best to be able to damage iwth an element besides fire, in csae the enemy is resitant to fire.
Signet of Capture can obviously be replaced, but I lik keepnig it around in case I come acros a boss whose skils I can take for low cost :)
I could probably do bettter by replacing a few of the skills... but I'm only lvel 16 and don't have access to everthing yet :)
Please let me know what you think of this biuld... I put some thought into it hs time instead of just tryin gto do as much damage sa possibl like with my previous build.
Forgive the typos, the keyboard im using is HORRENDOUS

I think you need to rework your idea.. this elementalist, you're right, makes an excellent tank... but that kind of defeats the purpose of an elementalist, who's supposed to be a damage machine. If you're playing with decent groups, you shouldn't really even BE attacked much (except PVP, where you're typically target #2, directly after monk).

I play an E/Me too (except I use water and air), and I find the only healing spell I ever need to be survivable is the occasional Ether Feast. The rest of the time, my group keeps everybody else out of my face, which frees me up to deal damage from afar.

You're artillery support (or a suicide bomber, depending on how you mix your skills)... you're not SUPPOSED to be a tank.
