Ok, here's the way i've been farming chests (and the occasional boss)
Mesmer/Assassin

16 Fast Casting
12 Shadow Arts

Ok, the groups you really want to watch out for are the Awakened (they have signet of judgement which you really need to avoid if possible : you CAN survive, it's just 50/50 though. Also, the Sadistic Giants have chilblains, which removes Shadow Form (loss of shadow form = bad).
So basically, you run through these areas farming chests (and hopefully stopping antifarm on chests!)
I occasionally bring a hero to send into groups to divert attention from me, but it's not at all a requirement.
So just have fun farming chests!

Would Deadly Paradox benefit your build, Apple?

Ron : that's one of the problems... you'd need to use it on the SECOND shadow form (as arcane echo resets the recharge time on your skills if you use the echoed skill), but i reckon you *could* run deadly paradox, yeah :)

What kinds of drops do you get? eg.

Desolation weapons, Ancient weapons and Elemental Swords drop around there. I got an inscribable fellblade on my way round yesterday too. Pretty much a mixture of a lot of stuff :)

what about the purple/gold ratio? (I've heard it's not too bad but I have bad experience myself:( )

1/3 golds maybe? They're all relatively low req in my experience too, unlike the realm of torment... That may just be luck though :)

Had the pleasure of a guided tour of the run on my Monk Cherry last night. Nice varied run, not too many tricky parts, and reasonable drops. Great find! :D

Well, if you're getting really bad drops : open the chests once you get to crystal overlook : they're ridiculously good. I just got 5 golds from 5 chests in there : one req 9 4 clawed Ancient Scythe, a 20/20 sundering spear and a 20% ench scythe. I love this run :)

Only 2 things i would work in are SoH and deadly paradox. Having a permant dark escape is very nice and Soh in to some chests saves the trouble of using echo for some of them.

In a run the ratio for me was like 1:5

Yeah, i've since switched out dash for deadly paradox. The Ruptured Heart has pretty sucky chests, yeah, although... i got a gold desolation maul. GG :)
