View Full Version : Any dervishes sucessful without wielding a Scythe ?

Been toying with the idea of starting a dervish to actually replace the warrior. Their armor level seems lower, but with some of the skills they have that seems to be easily fixed. I just feel like being different though and wielding a different weapon. No reason a Dervish couldn't go for sword or axe mastery as a D/W and still be an effective tank and damage dealer. Anyone played around with either of these options yet with any success ?

With the avatar skills it will definately make up for the Dervish's lack of Strength for skills such as Endure Pain and Defy Pain. My own experiences have shown that a warrior can survive and do well with massive life and little to no energy. It would seem that the Dervish can surpass the warrior now in both damage and survival. The avatar skills would make up for the extra life the warrior would have gotten and the Dervish can be set up for mostly adren skills and or cheap energy attacks. The nice thing is they can recover even more quickly then the warior when energy is gone. There's a lot of possible combinations I'm thinking

Wasn't there a dervish build with Mystic Sandstorm that use a staff and AoE spells?

I use Zealous daggers of Enchanting with +5 energy and use a bunch of AoE Enchants and Mystic Sandstorm.. Pretty deadly damage output as well as energy management with the fast attacking zealous daggers.
Pretty decent in PvE with Avatar of Balthazar or Melandru.

For a D/W, I don't think it gets much better than what Skuld said. Add Staggering Force in, and you don't have to sacrifice your primary mod!

On a sidenote, i've been succesful as a healer, utilizing Arcane Zeal for no energy costs (Mystic Healing is plain imba if you've got enough enchantments on you and with Arcane Zeal you can spam it forever). As well as a staff with recharge mods.

There could definetely be possibilities for a solo D/W build, I think. Cyclone + Eremite's Attack (melee, not scythe!) could be cool >.>

2 elites? Must've been a typo. Anyway, the use of an avatar will definitely put tanking in any dervishes list of abilities. After capping all 5 avatars and using them I know the options are there to expand your melee abilities.
In short, you can get inventive with a melee build when you cap an avatar skill.

The nice thing is the Avatar caps come rather earlier in the game which I'm liking. Istan is easily done with the bare essentials. Myself I'm still toying with the idea of a sword. It just seems like a more civilized weapon for a holy warrior to use
