I was thinking the same thing but I may stick with a Prof one and bring her over when i'm ready.

I suggest starting your mesmer in propheties if you can, because you will get tons of skills for free.
A mesmer needs to tweak his or her skillbar very often.
Any caster profession is a potent secondary for a mesmer, so choose the one you prefer or the one you have less unlocked skills.
The only issue is that it's quite long to get your last 30 attribute points.

I'm tempted to still start my mesmer off in Nightfall or Factions though. Free skills are always nice but I don't really want to go through the whole of Prophecies right now.

If you can afford it you could always just buy all the skills and run some Factions quests if you have that chapter to get a bunch of exp for skill points. It'll put a dent in your wallet though. :p

Start your mesmer in Factions. The armor is FAR nicer. Oh, if it's female anyway...dunno about male armor but the armor is what I usually go on.
Have fun :)
I enjoy running Minister Cho's Estate for people...that get's quite fun responses...but yes, Zen Daijun now seems a little underpopulated and all that is there is complete fools.

I'm with you about going through Prophecies, but its easy and you can skip a lot of stuff.
I recently created my new Mesmer and she is moving very quickly through missions. I know them extremely well (except for bonus of finding those druids), so getting the bonus and mission is insainely easy.
I don't bother with useless mission (awards - items), I just go for free skills and continuing with the story.
Cantha is fast paced, but I hate those missions. If you want fast way to get to 20th level, go for Factions.
I went for looks, a beautiful white girl gaining enough money to buy an asian outfit appeals to me. More so than an asian girl buying a pair of pants and a blouse. ;)
Either way, to get the skills you want, you have to go through teadius missions to get them. :(
Whatever you decided, good luck and have fun.

I still think that the best elites are in Tyria. But definitely the leveling in Cantha and Elona is much faster. I'd level a Me to 20 then head to Tyria to cap and then head back to finish NF or Factions or whatever the case is. Most often I use Glyph of Renewal, Mantra of Recovery, or Ineptitude in PvE, 2 of those are Tyrian and 1 is core...

Well I've decided to go for a change of pace and start my Mesmer in Prophecies instead. Gives me a chance to get away from NF exploring and Master Mission rewards and well the grinding for titles :p
Anyone point me towards a good discussion about Mesmer skills / 2nd profs to get an idea to what I am going to gives this little lady?
