This is an old bug but when i played it with my second char there was not a problem so i figured it was fixed. Here's a screenshot, as you can see, the area in front of the gate has been cleared but the gate simply will not open. I guess if i do it again it will be ok, but it would be great if this got fixed, for the sake of all others who find themselves in the same situation.

You could just walk through it.

I've tried. No luck.

Sorry, read it wrong. Light the beacons.

I lit all of the beacons, otherwise i couldn't of moved on... I even did the bonus. It's very simple, the gate just won't open.

Grab the Enchanted Torch from King Jarlis Ironhammah <.<

To make things more clear, I will try to explain the situation. That gate you see on the picture has to open in order for me to meet with Prince Rurik and King Jarlis. Through that gate is the enchanted torch and through that gate are the 3 beacons. In other words, I cannot finish the mission if I dont go through that gate. So, if you have more cool crazy ideas pls dont post. If anyone can help me, I would be grateful.

Yep, looks like your pretty damn "done" there, try again!

Break a Leg, or in this case the Gate Hinges.

fire the catapults :) run back and hit all levers you find; it will open (and the questlog will update)

Euhm not really...
The added questitems are to stop the sieges. firing them yourselves isn't going to do you much good unlike in Ice Caves of Sorrow

You have parhaps missed one of the Golem squads patrolling. I had this once happen to me because i took the side path directly to the left Catapult, while i was fighting a group of golems went down the south and disappeared off, i didint notice this at the time, but i back tracked, found and killed them and the Cutscene triggered as normal (which opens that gate.) Hope that helps

Thx guys for the feedback. As for the mobs I cleared the entire area, but I don't doubt that by redoing the mission i will finish it. It's just so anoying and I hope Anet will do something about it soon enough.

THIS IS NOT A BUG......you blow through the door with a explosive keg from a near by keg station

use this for refrence if your still having problems

I find it amuzing how many people have no idea where the OP is. Yeah the door 'should' open once all of the mobs 'guarding' it are dead. I know I had to work my way back to get a mob that had wandered off back the way I came. If you've cleared everything and gone back to check then it looks like a bug.

You may need to kill the Ice Siege Golems before the gate. This happened to me once, I needed to go all the way back (half-way between this gate, and the gate you open after doing the bonus.

That area has 2 groups of 3 Ice Siege Golems, which you must kill as well, for the goal to update.

Go back, past the two catapults, to the open plains, look for mobs there.

Since the goal says: "Stop the siege.... something or another", and those are Siege Golems, they somehow count against as goals as well.

The OP is talking about the last gate, where you kill the golems :)

I've encountered what I believe is the same situation as the OP - I got to the gate, killed absolutely everything in the vicinity, and the gates would not open. I originally thought it was a bug also, but just for the heck of it I decided to backtrack and fully clear anything I might have missed ...

... and found stone summit engineers + catapults in an earlier area of the mission. Killing these guys will update the quest log and open the gate.

The point is, stopping the catapults outside the gate is not enough. If you passed by the stone summit engineers in the earlier areas, you will have to go back and kill them, or the gate will not open.

Yeah I had the same problem, but as other posters stated, I went back and killed some golems that where patroling, that I passed up on my way in. After that it opened.

This is a bug. Many of you people posting in here have not played the mission enough times to encounter it, or have just been lucky. I've had it happen two times so far. The OP did nothing wrong he did everything he needed to advance but the gate doesn't open. Nothing you can do to get around it just restart the mission.

What interests me is that you still are in tyria, and so far behind, nothing against you but i would think you would get to nightfall since Guildwars is so amazing...perhaps he could be, you know, new to Guild Wars? Or in this case, just playing through the game for fun?

I have to agree that hasn't happened to me before...

This bug has been around forever, I don't think they can or are willing to fix it. Although they do still sell Prophecies, you'd think it would have been addressed. It's stopping a guildy of mine from getting 25/25.

I encountered this problem about 8 months ago doing this mission, i wipe everythign on a map when going through, so didnt know what to do, even tried the suggestion of blowing the door up, it didnt work, using the catapults didnt work, backtracked all the map nothing left alive, so had to restart it and then it did work!

I also encounterd a bug where i couldnt get into the bonus area blew up the bit hundreds of times n it wouldnt go went in a month later and it blew up first try

this mission seems a bit buggy to me

I was doing this in hard mode yesterday. The problem is there is a catapult you can skip and still get there. I just had to backtrack and destroy the last catapult and then when i got back the door opened.

Don't think i've ever had this problem tbh.

Its not as annoying as when i was playing through on my Mesmer and while lighting the Beacons AT THE END i glitched into the Beacon and got stuck! That pissed me off so much...

This is not exactly a bug--you've skipped a patrol.

You need to go back and kill all Siege Ice Golems. There is also another patrol of stone summit to the south of your position that pings yellow.

You also need to kill all stone summit engineers. The basic idea is that they wont open their doors if they are under siege.

That sure was a very good reason to bump this thread.

Bingo! We have winner.

Yes, killing golems is NOT enough, catapults in earlier part of mission need to be destroyed too.

The guy said he cleared out the entire area.

It is a bug I had it happen about a year ago exactly the same, the entire area cleared and teh gate wouldn't open. I restarted the mission and did it again and it was fine.
