Here's a pretty simple ranger build I found to solo these bosses:

15 WS
10 Inspiration
whatever is left in domination

Serpent's Quickness
Mind Wrack
Spirit Shackles
Empathy
Famine {E}
Storm Chaser
Spirit of Failure
Whirlind Defense (this skill is not necessary)

Basically all you have to do is run to the boss without aggroing enemies, aggro the boss, then hide behind a wall. At this point the boss should be trying to attack you, but unable to hit you. Drop Famine, then activate Serpents Quickness and cast your spells on the boss.

when taking on Swiftscale you will have to take out the Naga that are with him using the same tactics, but they are all archers, so you can use the same wall trick to hide from them.

Why only 15 WS? 16 is fine. in testing this I went 16 WS, 10 inspiration, 8 Domination.

Serpent's Quickness is a wasted slot since all of the spells recharge way before the duration ends anyway :\

Though I dont know what you'd use in its stead, some random mesmer spell to hurt him? (you keep high energy cause of spirit of failure)

I tested on Thousand Tail. It isn't a 100% Success Rate. Thats only because some of the time Thousand Tail is already getting PWNT by Oni's when you reach him.

The Hiding place there if yall are wondering is that ledge thing before you get to him.

Similar build works for Stonereaper too I'd assume. Hide behide the big Doors before the corrider he is in and use Troll Unguent to counteract the degen he gives you before you zap his energy.

That works too. Quite frankly it makes little difference. You could kill off both bosses using only Spirit Shackles and Famine with 10 or less attributes in WS and Insp. The only difference the attribute spread and additional skills make is the speed of the run.

I don't see how you can waste a slot in this build since you could easily drop Whirling and see no difference in effectiveness. Admittedly SQ makes a minimal difference, but it gives a slightly higher spammability of Mind Wrack.

This would be possible, but the limitation isn't energy, but rather casting time. You will likely spend all your time recasting your spells, so there will be little other time to cast anything else, but I'm sure there would be something else you could use that would work fine.

True, but it takes about 10 seconds to rezone and get to the same spot you just were, so even though there are some bad spawns, they are rare and make little difference over time.

I never thought about this boss, but I'll have to try. Thanks for the suggestion.

Addtional Info:

Wastel's Worry, it always works after their energy is drained, though Chkkr dies very fast anyway, it'd be more for other bosses.

You dont have to "spam" Spirit Shackles and Spirit of Failure, since their durations are huge compared to their short recharges, so theres room to cast other stuff :\

This build also works very well on WingMender to get Bhzzr's Benediction (sp?), takes alittle longer because he has a larger energy pool to drain off, and has Sig of Rejuv.

All Bosses Confirmed to kill with this:
Thousand Tail - Easy, Run straight too, dont aggro til that Mantis group beside you leaves, so you can aggro and duck beside that ledge where they were.

Swiftscale - Easy, Come from the NORTH not south, and wait til all the archers are not in line of sight of you because of the ledge there before aggroing.

WingMender - Easy, He aleady spawns in an alcove, so just aggro him from through the wall and go. He uses Sig of Rejuv but it isn't enough healing to even matter.

StoneReaper - Easy, Use Illusion of Haste instead of Storm Chaser (to get rid of Crippled from the traps in that one warden group you go through). Use the Door to block, not the columns (he can commonly shot through them). Use Troll to take care of the Degen he gives you before getting drianed.

Stonewrath - Easy if he spawns inside the passageway (99% of the time), Medium to hard if he spawns out in the open area , Run to the end of the passageway on the other side of the columns and dont put up your normal stuff. Hit troll to use up his Gale then put shackles on him, and wait for him to Stone Dagger and Gale through all his energy (takes like 30 secs) then put up all the normal stuff and he drops quickly.

{Note - Sometimes Stonewrath seems to have ALOT more Energy than normal, and by ALOT I mean...its basically Infinite...meaning its impossible to kill him with this build, so I started taking Backfire for this run just to kill Stonewrath incase he gets his lucky "infinate energy" spawn}

Meril Stoneweaver - Easy, use the Stairs/wall to block. Troll after a few of his Signet of Rages. Bait off his Smite Hex with something like Mind Wrack. Curiously enough he stops using Signet of Rage when his energy is drained..

Chkkr Brightclaw - Easy-Medium, Theres a small patrol of Kirin/Dragon Moss/Undergrowth that goes by the stairs you block on. Wait for the spawn to pass and go up the stairs, aggro chkkr quickly and put everything on him and kill as normal using stairs as blocking, he should die just as the patrol is coming back, you might have to tank off the kirins and such for a few secs, shouldnt kill ya.

Razortongue Frothspit - Medium. Pull his group to the ledge in front of the Rez Point. Alot of the time the Creeping Carps will get stuck on the corner if you dont move too much, If they do come around get just in range of the luxon priest at the rez point and stick Empathy on them til they die then turn back on Razortongue. Sometimes a Scuttle Fish will be in his mob, if that happens, you can kill him first, then razortongue, but honestly, 1 scuttle fish cant outheal you :\

I can't seem to get it to work. What happens is i run out of energy and the hexes end on him and the Stsou uses troll unguent while im waiting for energy to regen. Know what I'm doing wrong?

You have to refresh hexes as soon as they recharge?

This thread is more than a year old.
Maybe some of the skills used have been nerfed since then, or the bosses and the skills they use were buffed?

Recently, I tried my variation of this build on Wingmender in HM, and it seems I can no longer kill him, as he tends to spam Healing Breeze (can't remember his doing that before) which has been considerably buffed in a recent update.

Still working
But of course HM is lot harder to drain them...

For Stonewrath, like all casters, bring backfire....
Backfire him till he wont cast stonedaggers.. then empathy... famine is not needed...

For Stou i prefer to bring a skill to interrupt his troll unguent

For all bosses:
Dont forgett you can kill the team near bosses with your Npcs and then flag them out of radar range...

Another boss not named yet is Ritualist Construct... Doing him in Hm is no problem...
And Shagu (Nf Para Boss), can be done too

But i have to say that most of the bosses will be down faster when using SV or SS variants
