Is yours the M1710 series? I looked at the dells but just couldn't do it due to such short battery life. After some tweaking with NHC I got my battery to about 3.5hrs which insn't too bad considering it is a 17" with a go7900GS.

yes thats mine yea i know the short battery life...but i dont really use it all by itself if im in the car ill plug it into my jack and plug it in at home...very rarely will i use it without it plugged in...

XPS's can actually upgrade their CPU's and video cards, which is the only reason why I took the chance on one.

Sure you can, but if you go dual-channel DDR-mode, then you have to dump the 2 DIMMS that are already in there to go higher. There are only 2 memory slots at the bottom of the XPS, and they are usually both used.

Also, another quick tip: If you're a frequent gamer, your palm's sweat will probably wear thru the XPS's palm-rest finish very quickly (it did on mine). Put some painter's tape or any other weak-adhesive cover over that area to minimize wear/tear. Here's a pic to keep this post legit:

Indeed it is. I never saw the reason to 'mod' an Xbox (can't play online? or has that changed?), but meh.

I had the exact same desk as SaucE... it had a top section, but it was long-since retired... then the black plastic started peeling off the edge my wrists were on, and the desk got introduced to mister lighter fluid :ninja:

Azn i have the same keyboard as you accept the keys are silver and the rest is black! Your computer is nice, to much blue for my eye you need some olive green in there :D

I will not post my computer because the only "cool" looking things are my mouse and my keyboard. I choose to use a shitty looking case and put all the goodies inside! I probqably will get a new case and hard drive when Vista comes out so i shall post it then!

The biggest monitor on sale as of the time i write this is 30 inch...what ur saying would require quad sli (i.e 2 geforce 7950's) just to use its native resolution so ur either lying or using a TV thats 37 inch that prob has a fugly picture on it so i wouldnt even bother...

Let's think for a second... Maybe he just put all the speakers on the desk so that you can see them. Being that it is impossible to see what's "behind" the picture, this would make much more sense. I don't know though, maybe it's just not as obvious as I thought it was.

The three screen setup is most likely used for media editing or code of some sort.

Hospitals tend to use multi screen setups to track who is in what bed and show their vital stats at the nurses' station. Depending on the network setup of that hospital.

TFTs/LCDs aren't magnetic so it shouldnt cause a problem. If it was a CRT it'd be a different story.

here's my setup, dual monitors kick ass, GW on one screen, TS/Vent on the other, that way you can see who's asking for br if you don't recognise the voice! I used to have a good setup for my 5.1 speakers so I had the rear ones behind me, but then I moved so now their on my desk (still sounds good though). Also got my Factions calender, tablet and my X-Fi elite pro I/O Console. I want a new desk though, cause this one sucks for all I have :(

Well the monitor has only fallen once, because I mis-set it. The computer itself has not fallen off at all. It's set far enough back that it says correct.

That is dust on the cars, and as for my computer... It gets moved enough to not collect that kind of dust. The longest that it stays sitting there is a few months at most.

This is called PSU sleeving and it is lots of hard and annoying work. Plus, you gotta have the balls to work on a PSU that retains voltage.
Yeah I know there are ways to discharge it, but still.. you never know.

Don't the LCD Flat Panel monitors last for a shorter time than the CRT ones? Especially the cheap ones. If you want an LCD Flat Panel, you might want to go all out and get a nice one.

The desk is fine, I'm just in a corner of my room where I dont have much room, I've never had my tower fall off, though if I dont position the monitor correctly it will and has fallen off of where it is.

All the shuttle's I've ever looked at (granted, not many) came with SFF Mobos and Power Supplies (and fans?).

this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144162) on the other hand is/was a popular SFF case that requires a separate mobo and psu.

Barebones = shove proc, ram, gpu (and other junk) in, and boot.

graphics cards will be loud, especially stock fanned ones. I'm not sure about actual decibel levels, but there are aftermarket fans you can stick on (voiding your warranty, so make sure you know what you are doing). You could also lower the speed of the fans using some software (can't think of it off the top of my head... google fan comtroller or something), but then you run the risk of overheating (BAD!!!!).

Honestly, either move the computer futher away from you, or even go as far as to add some sound dampening pad to the sides of your case.

OR....remove the stock fans and and watercool ur pc....absolutely silent....unless u have a loud psu....then in which case u want a fanless psu...which get VERY hot....but it doesnt overheat...
