Please, I wanna know what people do to get they're fow, Ive been trying to save up but its not working =/ Any ideas?

During the Protective Bond craze, I had played regular and saved up to 125k and proceeded to make a monk to farm the Underworld like everyone else. When I tried to farm the Underworld, I failed multiple of times, so I ventured to Augury Rock and farm the Pre-nerfed Griffons until I got about 456k.

But, due to some error on Anet's part. I lose all that money. So I pressed on to farm Griffons until I reached 456k where I was before the incident.

Thinking I have improved a bit with the invic monk, I went off to farm Riverside where I made an extra 150k. Excited, I went off to the Underworld for another try at it. It was then I became successful at making close to 100k a hour until the fateful day Anet nerfed Protective bond. I continued on by using Protective spirit as a substitue for Protective Bond, where I generated even more money.

I got into buying Minatour Horns to make a quick profit but it didn't last long.

After a bit, I got bored of my money and played with my warrior. I had her farmed Griffons whenever America didn't have favor. It was then I discovered Racthoh's thread on farming FoW Spiders. After studying the thread a bit, I went off and entered the Fissure of Woe and made around 12k from my first run. I continued doing this until I generated around 200k. I also tried doing the Forest of the Wailing Lord, but I stopped soon after that.

After buying some stuff for my warrior, I was at around a million gold. I promptly deleted my monk, thinking I had no use for her when my warrior could solo FoW and make lots of money.

Which now brings us to today, where I chest run for gold items to have people identify for me for 600-1.5k each. Leaving me with 1.8 million gold enough to make Obsidian armor.

I farmed Vermin north of Senji's Corner all day till we got favor, then I went into UW with my friend who very generously gave me all the ectos.

back when we had favor virtually all day everyday, i was 55'ing when i was getting my monk her fow, and ss/sv'ing on my necro when i was getting her fow. when we didnt have favor, i farmed griffs/minos outside augry for hours and hours.

this was post prot bond btw, and just a lil before the aoe nerf. i continued on with 55'ing after the aoe nerf but i wouldnt solo anymore

I only have one peice left, but im close to saying i have full fow, but FoW Spider Cave, worked on each peice like this, Farmed for all the shards in the first 1 or 2 days, then 5 ectos a day, this got me helmet,gloves, boots, all 4 days a peice, and then 8 days for waist, now im working on torso but its giong slower

Duoing UW and FoW as a SS Necro... farming Aaxtes and Smites in UW, and the Shadow Army and Skeletal Army in FoW.

Duo trapping UW as a Ranger.

Duoing/soloing FoW forest as a Ranger.

Duoing/soloing the FoW cave spiders as a warrior.

Soloing hydras outside Augury Rock when Europe didn't have favor.

Farming for ectos took the longest. Shards were much easier to come by.

To break up the mundane and repetative task of farming, a guildie and I would also explore UW and FoW doing quests.

Got one set of FoW Ranger armor, and I don't want to go through all that again... unless my Mesmer really, really, REALLY wants one! :confused:

When I first heard of 55hp, I was a poor guy (around 50k) and I didn't want to spend all my money on the runes (10k+) for a monk, so I made a 55hp necro to see if I could play with the 55hp build. It worked wonders and I farmed the hell out of minotaurs, hydras and pre-nerfed griffons. Than I also started to do Uw dual runs when ecto were high (9-10k) without the intention of getting FOW armor (I thought waste of money) so I sold all the ecto at a high price. After a while I got around 600k and decided to make a 55hp monk and I found it worked easier than the necro. I farmed some weeks more till i got to 840k (and griffons were nerfed) but I thought by myself, why having that much money and don't do anything with it, so when ecto were low and shards were low (I believe with release factions) I bought ecto for 4.5k each and shards for 2.9k, so I got my armor pretty cheap. (ofcourse after that prices rose again:D ). Now i'm getting it for my necro but im just farming ecto with a guildie and farming shards with my warrior, it takes a while but it's fun. already got legs+foot.

But my friend got his obsidian armor in 1 week or something, just standing in a town and buying minipets low and selling high. This works really marvelous, but unfortunatly I don't have the patience to do that...

you gusy are all talking about FoW and UW and i have been interested in this subject for a while i have never been there or tryed it and was wondering how to get into it should i dive in and farm or try with a team and work my way down through duoing i already farm trolls and vermin and have made a fair bit of money which i have spent on 2 sets of 15k anyway has anyone got any advice ?

FoW and UW are two of the games most difficult and "phat loot" zones in the game. They can be accessed when your country has the Favor of the Gods which is gotten by winning battles in the Hall of Heroes.

The place they are accessed from is the "Temple of the Ages" which is in Kryta not far from Bergen Hot Springs.

The Underworld can be gotten to by talkin to the Voice of Grenth and the Fissure of Woe can be gotten to by talking to the Champion of Balthazzar. Both zones charge a 1k entrance fee.

The underworld is the only place known to drop Globs of Ectoplasm, the games most expensive material and the Fissure of Woe drops Obsidian Shards which is the games second most expensive material.

Both Ectoplasm and Obsidian Shards are needed for crafting Obsidian armor from the Eternal Forgemaster in the FoW.

i dont have FoW but i do buy alot of 15k armors amounting to fow... Anyway i used to Tengu farm outside of riverside and got tons of profit from that but that has been dead for a long time ever since they added mesmers to the groups :mad:

Now I cycle Trolls > Elona Minatours > Vermin and I also solo and duo UW as much as I can.

Getting the materials for my mesmer's FoW armour, especially ectos and shards, was probably the most mind numbing experience I had in GW. There were times that I wanted to just give up.

Fortunately, a guildie wanted to get FoW armour too and we spent a couple of months farming UW and FoW together. Doing the normal farming things and doing other stuff to bring some variety to the grind.

Stuff I did for the FoW armour:

1. Solo-ed UW with my 55 mesmer.

2. Tank as a 55 monk with SS necro in UW and FoW.

3. Solo-ed and Duo-ed the spider cave in FoW.

4. Solo-ed and Duo-ed the FoW forest with my ranger.

5. Tank as a 55 ranger with SS necro in UW just to get a spider pet after smite run.

6. Trapping in UW as a ranger.

If Europe didn't have favour, I just farmed anything to boost up my gold balance.

Well tbh I only ever got my FoW chest for my necro. Too many other toys adnd 15k armors for all my other pve's. I doubt I will ever finish my set off tbh(even though I have the ectos left). I did a little solo 55 Prot Bond farming. Long ago you could get a lvl17 cast to lose 1E per hit. I did some duo and solo UW a bit and some guildies liked 5 man FoW runs but I made most all of my gold running to Droknars Forge. Meat Shields R Us express ran whenever I had 40 min to spare spamn for people. Prices were much higher back then though and I quit running when others were offering for only 2k each. I only run for guildies now. PvP took over and now I only PvE to level up my chars to pvp with lol.
When it comes down to it you only have 2 ways to get it.
1. Time. Lots of it too, farming whatever you can farm fastest/most profitably.
2. EBay or any similar ig golds for rl cash services. While I used to hate this type of thing I do understand its reality.
Like Pontiff said he made his money on rich people with no time to play. You dont get rich without time played. Either yours, or someone playing for you for 25cents an hour.

I forgot to add that: I bought a 15%>50 8req Mursaat Hammer off someone for 65k because I wanted one for my warrior to PvP. I proceeded to buy a perfect Furious Hammer Haft and a Hammer Grip of Fortitude to it. I then dyed it black to officially Pimp it.

After a month of PvP, I decided to see how much I can get for it. I traveled to Lion's Arch, the imfamous trade post of the World at the time, and started advertising the Mursaat hammer. I was quickly whispered by many people stacking money in their messages, eager to buy my hammer. The max amount of money reached was 600k, I hastily sold off my Hammer for a nice profit.

I`m very near finishing Prophercies,so all this information is really helpful to me,as one thing I do want to do is go to FOW,and UW.

I have a W/Mo,and would like to get the FOW armour,for her,
I have been saving like mad,since the start,and have just over 100k,give or take a few nice pieces of armour,I have bought along the way,
I tend to pick up everything I can,I do get amazed at people who leave stuff behind,every penny helps as they say.:D

It was two months of griffon farming, FoW and UW questing, 2-5 man smite runs (would duo with a monk on my warrior during the bond days, good times). I bought most of the ectos and shards from the trader when that got introduced.

All sorts really, prenerf ettins for un ID'ed Sup vigors and absorbs, grand drakes, moss scarabs before they had chilbains. Prenerf griffens + blessed griffins outside of camp rankor, and then i ran more different and random things with the divine boon + zealots and balths smite build ;\.

That didnt really get me my fow armor but it was what i farmed, getting my fow armor was because i have 4 characters on the 24 hour early thing of prophecies, meaning 4 minipets the day they we're released + ectos at the time i bought we're 5k per and shards 3k per, and at the time it was just another way of saving money until i had over 105 shards and ectos and thought i may aswell get myself a set.

In factions all ive managed to farm was a dragon moss spot i found, and koosun runs when it was first posted here, which bagged me 10 - 20 koosuns, though ive been meaning to try the mes/mo Vice versa shirokin spot as it looked interesting.

Mainly UW seeing how the ectos is the most expencive part of the armor.. So farmed all the ectos 55 Monk/SS/SV style.. Then i farmed Shards in FoW both as Ranger Forest soloer, and Warrior Cave soloer, along with Some 8 Man groups.. The rest of the stuff came from what ever i have farmed =o

Tombs when it just got out. I think I sold 3 axes for 100k, 4-5 for 80k. Never got a bulwark (and i'm on 70+ runs atm). Going into fow with groups. Never solo or duo farmed a day in my gw life... took me 3-4 month for the set.

Lots of Duo UW untill I had enough Ecto's, and a lot of Spider Farming in FoW with my Warrior to get all the Shards. When you're doing this you should have enough money to cover the crafting costs.

well i for one started the game late due to work and stuff.. so by the time i knew about saving for fow armor and had the right stuff for it. ALL the nerfs had already hit.

and when i say all i mean ALLLLLL, we had the aoe nerf already in effect, buy low sell high hardly worked due to the failing econimy, nightmares erupted from the ground and ectos were about 8k per
bond was gone, and a-net had just turned uw drops rates into about the same as you would see in ascilon.

so when i started saving it was the worst possible time to save for fow armor. everyone was saving for factions(HA WASTE OF TIME THERE) and so i could not sell a damn thing if i tried(kinda like it is now)

that whole time i never had a rare drop worth more than the ecto i was trying to get.

but after grinding away on hydras as a 55 and then at night goin all night for a measly 3-5 ecto a night i finally saved enough to get fissure for my warrior.... then when it came time to go down to buy it.. i had a change of heart.... my monk did all the farming as a 55. and he earned all the cash. so i bought the fissure armor for my monk and turned my fissure armor into my new 55 armor :)

to get fow armor for my ranger i started off by farming SF when it was big, then turned to trapping UW until that got boring, which eventually lead to me getting the boots and gloves for her. i took a break from it for awhile then the ruins of tombs came out and i cashed in on that for about 200k. soon after i found ractoh's spider farming build, but only wound up doing a few runs as it got very boring >:(. by this time i had come across some gold items that were considered very rare at the time (perfect req 8 and req 10 flesh horn bows) which i sold to get the rest of my ectos. to finish off i farmed all the ectos i needed using my ranger in the forest (i got good enuogh to clear the entire forest in ~30 mins, about 2-4 shards a run) long road there but it was very satisfying.

i gotta say the worst part of it all is when you finally have all the materials you need to get the armor, your territory decides to take a break from having favor, or luck hates you enough to party you forgemaster group with idiots....over and over and over again

Im still at FoW Helm/Chest/Gloves and I got 20 ectos atm (need 25 more) but what I do is either FoW solo (Warrior, beach + spider cave) or duo UW with my SS/SV Necro and I also made alot from AB's... since my Alliance doesn't care about Faction anyway I rather spent it at Jadeites that bring me closer to my FoW armor.

Well, I don't exactly have FOW armor but I have about enough for 4 sets. Like everyone else, I started at SF/FA, then I went to Tombs, then I started troll/bird Farm at drok (usually for Sup Abso/Sup Vig when they were 30+ each), then it was UW, to finally offering Spider Capping Services at UW (which gets extremely boring). But! I finally figured how to finish a spider charming service in about 15 mins and we charge 25k per run. So u can probably do the math.

But again, no fow for me...I perfer the 15k armor and uber weapons...Maybe one day I will...:D

And with my luck....as soon as i made my 55 monk for Solo UW the Anerf squad came in and made a lovly mess of it all lol. So by then i forgot about UW and just went into FoW trying to make money. *I miss the days of 24K black dyes and 14K ectos :( * But we must move on...

To maximize my money going up insted of down, I stuck to a, I don't need it i'm not getting it pattern, it works :D

Like most have said in this thread it's *for me* "Favor" Solo UW/Solo FoW "No Favor" Mino's and Trolls. Simply that.

And of course *my pet hate of the game* trading, buy cheap sell for profit takes ages, so i mindlessly stand in Asalon ID1, grab a beer and just play some music while watching the trade chat fly trying to spot good deals. eg req 7 Fellblade 15^50 for 4g coins *i wish* and then selling for profit. 1 Tip I have is the good old i'm selling for 50K buy or go away, and you'd be surprised how many spend ages trying to get you to go lower. Might drive some people mad but i enjoy watching there pathetic attempts :D

I've been saving for my FoW armour for about 2 weeks. I've spent most of my time looking for good deals to buy, i'd get 150k, then waste it all on something i never needed :( but i'm not going to do that again :D

this is what i do
i play each day. when we have the favor i solo fow with my warrior. and when i got 5 shards i quit. farming shards is not that hard and its a lot quicker then farming ecto.

after that i do go for a couple of UW duo runs (i got a SS necro and 55 monk)
with my monk, cause i agro more then avg, so the run will be quicker. so each day i farm 5 ecto and 5 shards. so i need 21 days to farm for shards and ecto.
and the other materials i buy, because farming solo fow and duo uw gives lots of money drops, and when lucky chests and gold drops

the magic is that you must have 2 accounts atleat, one in Europe and one in the US, so no matter who won favor, you can always farm ecto and shards.and how many ppl really paying 70k for shiverpeak run? not that many, in the long run, FoW and UW are still more profitable.

damn, well 55ing wouldve took me like a few hours to get with no gold, so what i did was mow 4 of my neighbor's lawn on saturday, another 5 on Sunday givn me about 140$, hellllo ebay. bought 1 mil and got 130e, bought the other 1 mil for the rest. joined a Fow armor grp and got it within an hour n a half. so real life farming = faster than many people on here.

I have been playing for 1 week and a half, and my only character is E/Mo. I read that geomancer is good solo build for PvE, but is it possible to farm Fow and UW with that build, solo or duo? Would people even consider teaming up with E/Mo? I have no clue how tough it is in there so I may be day-dreaming here hehehe :D

I used to do alot of UW Dual, then kinda stopped because alost of SS's did not know what they were doing.I got a few regular people, that knew what they were doing,and added them to friends. Eventually, whenever we had favor, i had at least one person pm me about doing UW. I started saving my ectos, and eventually got enough for fow armor. When i needed shards, i looked to gwg, and found Ractohs awesome guide for soloing the beach in FoW. I would do that every now and then, and eventually, they all added up.
When we didnt have favor, i basically just chatted with guildmates, and sat in LA buying and selling. I wasnt too good at it, but i did make minimal profit. Eventually, it all added up, and i went and visited Mr forgemaster.

I farmed gargoyles outside Nolani like mad during wintersday-week in december 2005. Got 500+ skulls which I traded for candy canes.
selling those at an average of 800g each got me a long way.

Then I just saved my cash, did a few UW 55/SS runs, farmed a LOT of mino's with my 55 before the aoe nerf and the added scarabs, farmed hydra's after that, and now I'm mostly farming vermin with my wammo when I feel like it.
I tried some Droknar runs, and I'm capable of doing it, but the time and effort needed to form a party, people that don't pay you afterwards, failure chances etc just aint worth it anymore. Now I only do that as a free service to guildies.

My wammo has FoW, and maybe I'll start saving for my elem someday.

I only have 1 FoW set (on my necro) but I also have 22 15k Sets. As far as getting the money for all of that, it required a lot of farming and a lot of luck.

I was sitting in Droks and some guy says "WTS Brute Sword - 1.5k" I walk up to him, it's 15>50 Req. 8 10/10 +5 defense, I give him 1.5k and sold it for 100k+40 ecto in Lion's Arch two seconds later. I also traded a Req. 8 15>50 non-max Sephis Axe to a moderator on GWGuru, don't remember which, for a 13>50 Brute Sword which I sold for 100k+5 ecto a week later.

As far as farming goes, I farmed Ettins back when they still dropped vigors now and then (still only got 1), Flesh Golems, Griffons, Minotaurs, Sand Drakes and Trolls with my warrior and my ele. Once I had saved up 80k I went ahead and bought my monk a 55 set. Then I farmed all of those, except the Flesh Golems, with my monk and made the money back.

Eventually those got boring and I moved onto UW. At first I was a noob at it and gave up for a couple months. Then as I was browsing GWGuru one day I stumbled across a video of Cerb doing a Duo Run and it inspired me. I watched various videos of Fenrixxor (spelling?), Cerb, Sno and others and developed my technique as a monk. I went from those hideous 45 minute smite runs down to a 20 minute or so Ice King+Smite run, which can net you at least 8k a run (ecto+drops). So, as far as obtaining money for FoW goes, I'd recommend buy low/sell high (which requires you to have a decent amount of cash to begin with but can rake in a rediculous amount of money in a short time) or mastering Duo UW runs.

Although I'm getting increasingly bored with Guild Wars, so I think I need to return to farming, even though that's what originally turned me off from it ... because I did so much. Personally, obsidian warrior armor doesn't do it for me. It's a crime to cover up any beautiful 15K set of Ele armor with the FoW trash. Monk fow I find a bit ho-hum. So......I had to start a PvE Mesmer for the sole purpose of outfitting her in obsidian. Now that's a nice set of armor......... Only set I'll probably get unless the Dervish or Paragon sets turn out to be worthwhile.

well i just bought fow armor no 3, now i am saving for no 4. its not that hard to farm for fow armor. in fact its a peace of cookie.
i solo fow with my warrior (beach) going to try to solo it with my necro, for much more farming then beach.
and i do duo uw runs. i mostly go with my monk, because there are to many slow monks i must say. when i play with my monk i do all aatxes, dyers, and smites. i just use the normal spiritbonder build, but i agro as much as i can. if you play with me as a monk and the SS does his job good, each run will take about 30-35 minutes.

When i am saving for fow armor, i am not only farming. i also want to injoy the game so i also play some missions and do some quests. sometimes i am lucky with some good chest drops. but that is more for fun.

but still i hope i get my 4th armor. i allrdy made my necro, monk and ele happy. next one will be my ranger, its a shame that warrior fow armor is not that nice. i will buy it, but not now. i just like kurzick 15k more then fow

I didn't really spent that much time in farming. A few months ago I only had around 64K by farming those Trolls near Droks. I was about to buy a Superior Absorption rune, at the rune trader I saw they were only 1.3K each out of sudden, instead of 22K. I spent 61K in buying these things, couldn't buy more (out of stock :p). The week after that I basically was the "Superior Absorption rune trader" and sold all of those runes for 20/25K.

Some weeks later the trader sold Superior Absorption again for just 170g. These are the ones I bought and used for my armor.

Not really a farm, but it's a way of making money. ;)

damn...i would LOVE to get my mesmer fow..only the chest, legs and feet though so it wont be as expensive. no point in getting the gloves since they are just like any other 1.5k armor's and there is no mask. i have my nice ancient mask and shing jea masks dyed black+silver for illusion and an imposing mask dyed black for dom.

Uhm... one day I decided to get FoW for my Warrior and the first thing I did was: start a Necro.

I went 55 HP UW solo but I messed up all the time, so I continued duoing it. Made some out of it but not alot due to chinese scammers.

So I decided to do 55 HP troll farming outside Drok. Made pretty much from that, and finally I found out about Elona Reach farming. Made ALOT from that.

Also a little Faction Green Farming on my Warrior (Sskai and the Shield guy)

Im getting my armor by doing the "PvE" weekend events like clovers, ale, bunnys, eggs, Gailes rockets, poppers, and sparks by raptor farming you make atleast 150k if you farm them both weekends for about 3hours each day. I made about 700k from those weekends, sadly i missed the clovers and ales. But when im not doing that im doing Elite Missions with my guild like Slaver+Duncan, Thommis and Rand, UW, FoW, and DoA.

On topic: Never really been interested in FoW, besides necro top and assassin gloves and boots. When I got my ranger gloves, and boots, and then my paragon gloves and boots, the money was already there. I also made around 500 k from HFFF when Urgoz scrolls were selling for around 1.5 k each to the scroll trader. That was FTW!

At the moment I dont have fow, but i have 90 ecto, 90 shards, 500K cash and chaos gloves. I think i made most money just farming random things like: Zelnelun Fastfoot (b4 lootscale), did some fow solo as necro, did the Halycon job farm as necro and sold the rares unid (still works wonder imo), farmed ectos with my war, made bout 100k by running 5 people through THK with the bundletanking, farmed Darkflame dryders (easy kills reassonable loot), did ids farms. And lately I made bout 200k trading braces and another 50k or so from farming raptors for 2 hours on event weekend. I think this is a pretty neat thread since we all can get ideas about how to make the money for a FoW armor. Cheers,

I got my first FoW from farming Titan gems when it still seemed worth it. I got my second FoW set the weekend HM came out and i got a r9 and r10 colossal scimitar farming corsairs outside of the astralarium.

i've decided to go for a 3rd FoW set..but theres not a great way to make money anymore besides weekend festivals. i made ~400k during the last festival, and i know some made A LOT more. i think if you want a quick and easy way to get FoW..just wait till the next festival and farm nonstop. it'll be boring..but it'll probably be the fastest way to do it.

Reversal of damage now correctly triggers when the damage is dealt by an indirect source (ie retribution/holy wrath), this didn't really nerf the run, just means the smiter needs some kind of healing.

I can't find a way to get good money, since the only thing that worth a lot are rare minis, everlasting tonics, Crystallines, Eternal Blade, Obsidian Edge and Celestial Compass.
The chance of me getting one is really low.

I'm farming the UW in 600/smite, but I gain a small number of ectos and it will take a lot of time to get all the ectos...

And waiting for the next festival is not an option, since it will take ages until it will come...

I got my FoW and torment in about a month of farming.

When DoA first came out, I PUGed for a while, doing 1 or 2 zones a night, and selling gems for ridiculous prices (100k+ each, <3 gold buyers). I found a few nice drops in the chests out there, as well. When I was around 1mil, I joined a guild dedicated to DoA. We got pretty good, and used to do full clears almost nightly (back then that was almost 1mil a night). When all was said and done, at the end of the month, I had full FoW, my torment, and a few mil to spare.

unfortunately, this doesn't help you at all, because after that month was up we'd flooded the market with gems, and a few solo builds had popped up... now gems are more or less worthless.

Okay, well I got my fow in about a week. Here's what works for me... I seem to have a steady cashflow from it.

1) I 600 CoF. If you charge 2k per person and bring a hero smiter you can make at least about 15k per run, plus you get golds, lockpicks, chalices, relics, tomes, etc, and it takes under an hour. If you want to be more ambitious, try to learn to 600 Ooze pit or Kathandrax - Kathandrax is 90k in about an hour, but CoF is crazy easy to learn to do. Kathandrax and ooze take a more experienced 600.

2) In my free time I play dirty merchant. Buy low, sell high - especially when you know something will mess up the market, like when the shadow form update made ectos cheap or if a holiday is coming up and theres tons of party/alcohol/sweets points to sell. I made 60k in about half an hour just by farming stacks of collector items when the last new mask came out. And if you don't know the market yet - use Price Check here and compare prices to Kamadan ad1. you will find many good deals you can resell for profit.

3) Sell anything you don't need - just remember if you want fow more than the black dye you just got, or the elite tome or w/e, you might as well sell that and buy your ecto. For example: I'm not going for the lucky/chest titles, so I sell all lockpicks instead of using them. I sell golds 7 for 5-6k since I'm not using them.

4) Farm Balths faction. There's many farms, mostly involving trapping for the Zaishen elite, where you can get long streaks of wins that will award, at the max, 6k balths faction. This is enough for a Zkey, which is about 5k, and the runs only take half an hour.

5) This is the most boring thing ever but learn to farm faction. If you take 3 customers, you are making about 450 gold per minute doing this. Just look up the build for farming kurzick faction from Lutgardis, and advertise Running HFF 100g ea and people will pay you for a quest run that only takes about a minute to complete with your heroes.

6) Salvage everything that might give you bone, dust, and feathers, and make consumables sets. Sell them for 7k from Temple of Ages. Feathers are usually the hardest to get - you can 600 birds for them north of Bergen. Just farm straight north to the next zone, and return.

I just got really good and I farm UW and FoW with my necromancer, because I personally think that 55ing is slower since necros got SS which does more damage and results in a slightly faster farm. Farming with 55 necros is harder and more advanced than farming with monks, since you need to have some great button-mashing skills and some fast fingers/mouse-clicking. Anyways, I have more than enough for the armor, but I think the necro armor is hideous, so I bought a pair of fine looking Chaos gloves, with the matching color for my profession. I'll get Asuran armor, since it's really cool. :)

When you have enough ectos to buy the armor, do it. If you have some more, don't waste 'em on Chaos gloves, it IS proven to be a waste, unless they are pretty, pretty, pretty ^_^. Though I bought it because i didn't like the necro FoW armor. All other ecto = sell! But you should wait for the ecto to rise in price (lol it rhymes), then sell it, because I don't like the recent price drop.
But I, keep them in my storage, good ol' storage, for the future. :)

1) I 600 CoF. If you charge 2k per person and bring a hero smiter you can make at least about 15k per run, plus you get golds, lockpicks, chalices, relics, tomes, etc, and it takes under an hour. If you want to be more ambitious, try to learn to 600 Ooze pit or Kathandrax - Kathandrax is 90k in about an hour, but CoF is crazy easy to learn to do. Kathandrax and ooze take a more experienced 600.

2) In my free time I play dirty merchant. Buy low, sell high - especially when you know something will mess up the market, like when the shadow form update made ectos cheap or if a holiday is coming up and theres tons of party/alcohol/sweets points to sell. I made 60k in about half an hour just by farming stacks of collector items when the last new mask came out. And if you don't know the market yet - use Price Check here and compare prices to Kamadan ad1. you will find many good deals you can resell for profit.

3) Sell anything you don't need - just remember if you want fow more than the black dye you just got, or the elite tome or w/e, you might as well sell that and buy your ecto. For example: I'm not going for the lucky/chest titles, so I sell all lockpicks instead of using them. I sell golds 7 for 5-6k since I'm not using them.

4) Farm Balths faction. There's many farms, mostly involving trapping for the Zaishen elite, where you can get long streaks of wins that will award, at the max, 6k balths faction. This is enough for a Zkey, which is about 5k, and the runs only take half an hour.

5) This is the most boring thing ever but learn to farm faction. If you take 3 customers, you are making about 450 gold per minute doing this. Just look up the build for farming kurzick faction from Lutgardis, and advertise Running HFF 100g ea and people will pay you for a quest run that only takes about a minute to complete with your heroes.

6) Salvage everything that might give you bone, dust, and feathers, and make consumables sets. Sell them for 7k from Temple of Ages. Feathers are usually the hardest to get - you can 600 birds for them north of Bergen. Just farm straight north to the next zone, and return.

j/k but this is good solid advice if u don't want to fow/uw farm all day (especially ursan'ing)...I might add, too that a good place to pick up feathers/consumable mat's is in the off-the-beaten path outposts where beginners or others who don't know/care about cons sets might be...I've gotten a lot of feathers this way. Iron/dust/wood you can get anywhere still pretty cheap considereing your return on investment

Monthly Predictions can give some sick money indeed. I made them only two times so far, but I got over 100 rp both times. That's alot of money....

i farmed the Mindblades before the nerf. now, i just farm the Aatxe's in HM. you don't get as many ectos but you still get them.

Then just do Buy low Sell high technique. TOok me about a week and it was the first time i'd ever tried it, to go from 100k ~ 1mil.

not everyone is good at buying low and selling high ,not to mention it requires to stay all day and spam the trade chat,and an extensive knowledge about prices in general for items so point is ,its alot easier to go agro mob kill it and get all the drops ,oh wait that's been nerfed to the point of silyness ,wtb no frigin loot scale, was fun to farm long time ago.Also mi bigest money machine in gw was at the begining of nightfall in doa foundry ,titan gem farming when 1 gem=100k+x ectos,go go 500k+ in 1 day without even sweating.

Cathedral of flames. It`s a gold mine. Little more over one month of farming and i got my ecto armor. Drops are still good, last two runs i got 8 and 9 gold drops, black dye, white dye, 2 lockpicks, and elite ele tome. If you go to cof, bring two or three plain salvage kits to salvage white drops (since there are so many) so you can sell materials later. All in all one run is worth around 10k without taking others into group (with full group it pays even more, because you charge people for some amount of money to get them run through, and drops are better with more human players).
Other than cof, i farm tombs too with my sin. Still doable after Shadow Form nerf, just takes a liitle longer. Ectos don`t drop that often, but golds, lockpicks and tomes are there in abundance. Even rare dyes.
From what i`ve heard from my guildies, area below marketplace in Factions is a good one to go for golds and more importantly, gold runes. I haven`t finished Factions yet, so can`t confirm this tho.

yup. the overall drop rate is about 4% for anything in UW that can drop ectoes. there was just SOOOO many more midblades who were REALLY easy to kill. now, not so much with the easy.

Before the UW Farm Nerf, i used to farm there. That got me my first 2 pieces. I got the leg piece by saving up; trying not to use to much money for stuff that I don't need. I'm still currently saving up for the last piece I need, but with the current ecto price back to "normal" (5k ish) it'll take longer.
