Pick Up Groups Guide

A Pick Up Group (which will hereafter be abbreviated PUG) is a party formed
with people you have never met before. Conversely, if a party of 3 invites you
to join them, that can also be considered a PUG.
As mentioned in the introduction, PUGs are very unpredictable - I have had
very successful PUGs and I have had PUGs that couldn't beat an easy mission
even if the enemy were blindfolded and drunk. There are other ways to form a
party; they are:
1) Partying with Guild/Friends - This is definitely the best option.
Your teammates know one another, so your party can easily decide what
skills to pick and what strategies to employ. Finding a good Guild
and friends can take a while, however.
2) Partying with Henchmen - At every area except Pre-Searing Ascalon,
you have the option of picking AI controlled characters known as
Henchmen. They're not very intelligent - they won't attack unless you
attack something or they GET attacked. Not recommended.
3) Going solo - If you have a character that is fairly high level and
can heal itself, you may be able to get away with this on questing
or just plain travelling. However, this is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED for
missions.
2a. ADVANTAGES OF A PUG:
- Generally better than Henchmen and Soloing
- Can be formed fairly quickly
- May lead to friendships/permanent parties
2b. DISADVANTAGES OF A PUG:
- Can be unreliable and downright awful
- Chance of running into elitists OR inexperienced players
- May have to wait for some members to download the map
