1. INTRODUCTION

This is a guide on Pick Up Groups in Guild Wars. It contains some information
on general party building skills, but this primarily focuses on how to deal
with Pick Up Groups and forming a party with random people. While Pick Up
Groups are seen in most MMORPGs, they are especially prevalent in Guild Wars,
thanks to the "briefing area" where players are placed before the start of
every mission.

Pick Up Groups are often frowned upon, because they are very unpredictable and
sometimes unreliable. However, many players, including myself, do not have
very many friends playing the game, nor do they know which players they can or
cannot trust to be permanent party members for future quests and missions.
Plus, finding such  permanent, reliable party members can take more time than
many people have. Finally, certain places, such as Ascalon Arena, will randomly
place you and several other players into a party, which is very similar to
having a Pick Up Group.

This guide will provide you, the reader, with basic tips and strategies on
how to form a good Pick Up Group, what to do in a Pick Up Group, and how to
work with a Pick Up Group in a Player versus Player (PvP) situation. Although
these are not the ONLY strategies you can use for a Pick Up Group, nor will
these tips work 100% of the time, they will help guide you in the right
direction if you are having trouble forming a decent Pick Up Group.
