Professions

Guild Wars Professions

Assassin
The Assassin walks the shadows, a deadly viper ready to strike at the heart when the enemy least expects it, nowhere and everywhere all at once. The Assassin is trained to efficiently link attacks together in a chain that does not give the enemy a chance to hit back.
Dervish
Dervishes are the holy warriors of Guild Wars. They are a close-range profession capable of hitting multiple opponents and utilizing enchantments to deal damage, inflict conditions, and protect and heal themselves. Masters of the profession can assume the form of a god, enacting divine will with holy blessings.
Elementalist
Those that claim dominion over the Earth, the Heavens, the Water and the Flames, Elementalists are the masters of destruction. Elementalists are capable not only of dealing massive damage to a single target, but they can also spread their damage out to several foes, making them not only deadly, but versatile as well.
Mesmer
Mesmers are the masters of the counter. Whatever another character does they have a way of countering it. Of preventing it, of ignoring it, of reducing or eliminating it. Depending on their skills and their inclination Mesmers can ruin absolutely anyone’s day by preventing them from doing what it is they want to do.
Monk
The Monk fulfills a different role in a party than the other professions, generally being based around healing and enhancing your party abilities in combat, as well as removing detrimental conditions and hexes. Monks have some direct-damage capabilities in the Smiting Prayers attribute, but the majority of monk skills are focused on keeping your team alive and healthy so that they can continue fighting.
Necromancer
Masters of death and sacrifice, the Necromancer is one of Guild Wars most versatile classes. Being able to give an offensive boost to allies, hex enemies, leech health off of enemies or raise minions from corpses this class has alot to offer. While not outright offensive as some of the other classes, Necromancers are one of the best support characters in the game. With a wide array of skills spread along 3 attribute lines, these guys and gals of the unholy can bring alot to any team.
Paragon
Paragons are the guardian angels of Guild Wars, humanity’s champions against malefic threats. A Paragon’s best weapons rely on an insightful mind, a courageous spirit, and a charismatic voice. When all hell breaks loose, a commanding Paragon shines as a beacon of light, driving back the forces of darkness.
Ranger
The Ranger is one of the most diverse classes to play in Guild Wars. No other profession says "Jack of All Trades" like the ranger. With a few attribute and skill changes the ranger can move from a ranged damage dealer, to a pet master, morph into a disruption dealer, or set nasty little traps around the field of battle.
Ritualist
Ritualists channel other-worldly energies that summon allies from the void and employ mystic binding rituals that bend those allies to the Ritualist's will. The energy they channel drives Ritualist skills which enhance the deadliness of an ally's weapon and wreak havoc on an enemy's health
Warrior
Selecting Warrior means one thing, first and foremost. You want to work in melee range. Warriors, as a profession, are at their best when within arm’s reach and swinging away with a close-range weapon. Warriors are the dreadnaughts, the heavily plated and well-armor engines of destruction, on the battlefield. Their main strength and chief weakness is their lack of range.
